#Digitalhealth has not disrupted the health market as anticipated. Yesterday meeting a friend who is into digital health we discussed that despite the rapid growth of patient-oriented #digitalhealth solutions, many struggle to demonstrate significant #clinical impact. There are many challenges in this. For e.g. Many tools operate in silos and aren't seamlessly integrated with #electronichealth records (#EHRs) or clinical decision-making systems. Then robust clinical validation is lacking. Few digital health solutions undergo rigorous #clinicaltrials to prove efficacy and safety. Another challenge is low patient adherence. Existing tools often lack long-term engagement strategies, which undermines their effectiveness. Access to and usability of existing solutions can vary significantly across socioeconomic and demographic groups. The regulatory environment for digital health is still evolving, delaying adoption. What I feel is addressing these challenges requires a collaborative approach between #developers, #clinicians, and #healthcare institutions, focusing on user-centric design, clinical validation, and system integration.

Great points from Michael Macdonnell at #BMJFH about the need to avoid the trap of “disruptive technology” that serves the rich in the hope impact will trickle down to those less wealthy. 👉also the structural biases in trials that don’t translate to effects in the population

On two separate occasions recently the Vynamic team of Tilewa Otunba Nwaeze, MPH, Saurabh Raman and I were asked what our #healthservices team get support requests on most often. One of the first things that came to our mind was how health systems and health plans must swiftly re-organize smartly for a future that fully utilizes the digital engagement tools they've invested in. Utilizing doesn't just mean plugging these new advances into workflows; it also means building a refreshed organization that catches up to the 'tech'. ➡ In order to optimize technology stack & capabilities to enhance the user / patient /customer experience- you must redesign teams, jobs to be done, and structure to drive this every day. The new digital engagement vision. ➡ To be able to establish & manage effective partnerships with vendors & develop an innovative collaboration, you must have the team and goals to maximize the solutions and new partnerships effectively. The new digital ways of working. ➡ To fully develop and capture analytics capabilities that unlock actionable insights, you must create data leadership and support roles to ensure you are constantly converting these insights into patient-centric workflow, and promoting growth within the organization. The new way to drive digital growth. This new case study on our website speaks to some of these must-haves. A team can have access to incredible texting platforms, automated customer cues, and new chat bots that carefully navigate patients; but many times the Operating Model is not set up to support this for the new 'system'. And maybe more importantly, it cannot be expected that old roles and responsibilities meet the new capability needs.
After millions of interactions with patients, the Digital Engagement team at a large Academic Medical Center (AMC) realized that the they had created barriers to health services, causing a digital divide. How did we help them close the gap in the access and use of digital healthcare? Digital Health Technologies (DHTs) are increasingly contributing to the economic affordability and environmental sustainability of healthcare systems. By offering customized, adaptable care solutions, they have the potential to facilitate safer and more extensive home-based care while empowering patients to actively engage in their health management. However, substantial national differences exist in how these technologies are perceived, evaluated for regulatory approval, and reimbursed. Researchers are exploring the emerging phenomenon of grouping individual DHTs—each with its own clinical use case and regulatory approval—into packages designed to perform specific clinical tasks in defined settings. https://lnkd.in/ech-f7Hp I #DigitalHealth #RemotePatientMonitoring #VirtualCare #HealthcareInnovation

Effective collaboration is key to navigating and optimising health journeys. Here’s how we can foster better cooperation for improved health outcomes. Empowerment Through Information Patients now have unprecedented access to medical information. Healthcare providers can guide them towards reliable sources, enhancing understanding and building trust. Open Communication Patients should feel encouraged to ask questions and share concerns, while healthcare providers must listen actively and explain clearly. Utilising digital communication platforms can further enhance this dialogue. Shared Decision-Making Patients should take an active role in their healthcare choices, and providers must involve them in the decision-making process. This approach improves satisfaction and adherence to treatment plans. Personalised Care Patients should advocate for care that considers their unique needs, and providers can use technology and data analytics to tailor treatments. Building Trust and Respect A trusting relationship allows for honest communication. Both patients and providers must respect each other’s roles and expertise. Leveraging Technology Embracing technology like health apps and telemedicine enhances patient engagement and care coordination. Continuous Learning Health literacy is a continuous journey. Patients should stay informed about new trends, while healthcare professionals must commit to lifelong learning to deliver the highest standard of care.
