There are a lot of changes happening across orgs of all sizes right now, but the outcomes aren't what business leaders expect. Why? Because the change ripples across the entire experience. Teams are supposed to turn on a dime. Users are supposed to understand that their daily flows are disrupted. Customers suddenly can't find how they always logged in. Disruption, which innovation considers good, does that. But human-centered design says that change needs to account for all the ripples. It's not just about the change itself, but the behaviors that get absorb in the shockwave. That's what popped out to me when I read this article. Sure, KPIs for ROI are great, but let's not forget that all of them depend on human behaviors both internal and external to the business. https://lnkd.in/gNHnyNdY

What is Digital Transformation? When you think about digital transformation, imagine peeling back an onion. Each layer reveals something critical to your success: 🧅 Layer 1: #Leadership At the core, leadership sets the vision. Without a strong, committed team leading the charge, the whole transformation unravels. 🧅 Layer 2: #Culture Next, you need a digital-first culture. This mindset ensures your team embraces change and fuels progress, acting as the glue that holds everything together. 🧅 Layer 3: #Infrastructure Beneath the surface lies infrastructure—the backbone of your operations. It supports your tech and ensures everything runs smoothly as you scale. 🧅 Layer 4: #Platforms On top of that sits platforms—the tech tools that power your processes. They streamline and scale your operations, making sure your ideas turn into action. 🧅 Layer 5: #Processes Now we’re getting into action. Processes are the steps that transform ideas into repeatable, successful outcomes. 🧅 Layer 6: #Innovation Innovation is what keeps you adaptable and competitive, pushing you to do things better—and to do better things. It fuels new ways to deliver value. 🧅 Layer 7: #Business #Models Your business model defines how you deliver that value. It’s critical that your model aligns with customer needs, driving everything you do. 🧅 Layer 8: #Customer #Experience Finally, the outer layer—the one everyone sees—is the customer experience. It reflects all your hard work and is the result of every layer underneath. When each layer works in harmony, your customer experience shines. Digital transformation is more than just tech. It’s about building from the inside out, with leadership at the core and customer experience as the shining result. #DigitalTransformation #Leadership #Innovation #CustomerExperience

There is a fundamental difference in mindset between digital transformation and organizational change. Projects that merely replace an existing system with a new one or enhancements are often mistakenly called digital transformation. In the business world, change and transformation are distinct, though they might seem similar. Change involves incremental improvements to existing processes or specific issues, typically limited in scope. In contrast, transformation is a profound shift that reshapes an organization's #corefunctions, #culture, and #strategy. It requires a comprehensive approach, integrating new technologies, business models, and mindsets. While change modifies parts of the system, #transformation #revamps the entire system, helping companies navigate significant market shifts and future challenges for long-term success.

#employees who are not engaged or who are actively disengaged cost the world $8.8 trillion in lost #productivity. Most companies seeking to improve their #performance apply more rigor to quantifying efficiency than to increasing effectiveness. Anyone can cut 10% from a department’s budget, but to design intelligent and sustainable cost reduction measures, executives need to understand which activities are critical to the business and which add little or no value. Complicated trade-offs require deeper analysis. The most successful #transformations are those in which #leadership teams adopt an owner-activist mindset. They focus on productivity improvement and growth, as well as cost reduction. That means identifying the costs that contribute to the firm’s #competitiveadvantage so those leading the change effort can prune in the right areas and reinvest for revenue growth in others. We are not advocating an investor-activist approach, which tends to exploit volatility for short-term gain. Owner activists usually want to build the best business possible for the short and long term, because they intend to retain ownership. That leads to more reasoned, sustainable decisions on resource allocation. It is well documented that people need their interactions with technologies and other complex systems to be simple, intuitive, and pleasurable. When done well, human-centred design enhances the user experience at every touch point and fuels the creation of products and services that deeply resonate with customers. Design is empathic, and thus implicitly drives a more thoughtful, human approach to business. The essence of design thinking is human-centric and user-specific. It’s about the person behind the problem and solution that drives transformation. https://lnkd.in/ePBrY5KX
