š Bootstrapped & Beating the Odds: Sotaog Joins the Top 4% of SaaS Companies š When I founded SOTAOG with Robert Estill, I knew I wanted to do it differently. Our recent DOE project milestone places us in the top 4% of SaaS companiesāa feat thatās rare even among VC-backed companies. But weāre even prouder to have done it bootstrapped. There are thousands of bootstrapped pioneers example: Zoho, Zapier, Forge (another DOE awardee) whose journey have been powered by relentless focus and determination. The secret? Itās simple, not easy: work harder than everyone else. For example there were days when exhaustion tempted me to pass on new contracts, but each time Iād ask myself one question:Ā āSarah, have you pursued every opportunity ahead of you?ā The answer was always āNo.ā And that commitment to seizing every chance has led us to contracts that didnāt just sustain usātheyāve become the long-term partnerships we rely on today. We went through periods where revenue fell to zero, but my commitment to my team never wavered: no layoffs, no matter what. I wanted Sotaog to be a place of stability, growth, and integrity for everyone involved. And as we continue to grow, Iām excited to fulfill my promise of financial growth for each ambitious employee and partner whoās believed in us. Early on, I faced a choice: spend time chasing investors or double down on finding customers who saw value in our solution. With funding odds around 1%, compared to at least a 10-20% chance of customer acquisition, I chose our customersāand itās a choice Iād make again without hesitation. Today, weāre blessed with inbound calls from VCs who backed unicorns I once admired from afar. And every time weāre approached, Iām grateful we didnāt compromise early on traditional investors and terms that didnāt serve us. We didnāt just wait for the right momentāwe worked for it. To every bootstrapper, dreamer, and founder inspired by those whoāve gone before: believe in your team and your vision. The journey may be long, but the impact makes it all worthwhile. #innovation #technology #startups #heavyindustries #sotaog

4moJust to add a little bit more detail on closing a new contract Selling to COOs and their teams on what sets Sotaogās deep tech apart is excruciatingly hard It starts with a vision-sharing meeting, where we introduce COOs to the transformative power of true AI/MLāa game-changer for their operations. But thatās just the beginning. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th.....20 meetings ~ is where the real challenge unfolds. I step into rooms filled with a diverse mix of technical minds, some skeptical, others disengaged, and a few who seem to know it all. My job? To bridge those gaps, break down complex technology into clear, compelling insights, and bring everyone along, no matter their stance or experience. Even amid dismissive/disrespectful remarks (let's be honest this is not fun), I have to persistākeeping it engaging, professional, always with a smile. After all those countless hours of investment, closing the contract is not a guarantee. What keeps me going - knowing that I have a responsibility to my employees and their families. They are always worth it š #sotaog
