Three quick tips on hiring great BDR's!

WOW, what incredible demand for the open BDR roles at Armis! Got hundreds (!!) of DMs, and a handful of cold calls yesterday. Y'all know me. I'm an enablement geek, so I have a little coaching/advice for folks going out for these BDR roles (and any other BDR/SDR roles, for that matter) ⤵️ 🔥 DO's: - Video message with a quick ~30 second intro! - Cold call the hiring manager. And leave a voicemail! (Out of ~230 DMs, I only got ~5 cold calls yesterday - all with VMs that I read while in meetings.) - Send a message that's concise, and relevant to the JD. Bullet points with why you'd be a great fit. Under "what you'll do" and "what we expect", there is a TON of specific stuff skill-wise that you can use! - Look at who you know at the company! Or, who you know who may know someone at the company. Referrals are super important, and always get viewed, and are often prioritized. 🚫 DONT's: - "I am interested in this role. Thanks!" (or anything like this) in a DM. Think about the volume of messages a hiring manager gets. This doesn't stand out at all, and ultimately tells me absolutely nothing about you. Put a little effort in if you're going to reach out to someone directly. - "Do you have any engineering roles open?" in a DM. I got a *ton* of questions about what other roles we have open. LOVE the enthusiasm, but you can check the website for other openings! - Connection requests with no message. The requests I'm prioritizing are the ones with brief, relevant connection request messages attached. - "Hi, I'm interested. Can we meet/can you tell me more?" Again, this (or anything like this) is going to get lost in a sea of other messages. And as much as I would love to meet with everyone interested, that's not at all a reality. Instead, read the JD, and try sharing a few bullets around why you'd be a good fit! There are some specific things we're looking for that you could speak to. I want to acknowledge that this is a tough job market. I am here for you, I want to see you succeed, and I am rooting for you! I'll keep sharing tips like these. The hardest part about sales is to make it profitable and efficient. If you’re doing SMB sales but have a high CAC, that doesn’t work. It’s not profitable. If you’re doing ENT sales but have a 6-year sales cycle, that doesn’t work. It’s not efficient. And vice versa. That’s also why it’s exciting to work in sales! There’s no one-size-fits-all setup and strategy. It’s so rewarding when you make it work. Doing ABX for ENT accounts. Hiring sales engineers for ENT accounts. Doing automated outbound for SMB. Setting up self checkout to reduce CAC for SMB. What else would you add? #sales

"Cold calling is a waste of time; our new sales hires won't do it." I got a TON of hate for this ^ BACKROUND Last week, I announced we are hiring BDRs. I mentioned they won't need to cold call because I believe it's a waste of time. This sparked a lot of controversy here. So, let’s put it to the test... I'm hiring 3 new sales reps for my team. My phone number is all over the internet (Apollo, zoom info...etc). It's also on my profile page. Crazy, I know. If you can somehow get my attention (anywhere you can find me, LinkedIn message, cold-call, text, email..etc). I'll hire the best one. In three months, I'll post the results here on how they did. My phone will be on all day for cold pitches - I'll record the best few. Let's see if cold calling still works...
