Increased electric grid infrastructure investments are needed to provide critical resilience and reliability for customers and communities. Entergy is leading the way but this is a collaborative approach that involves all of us. Check out what our Chair and CEO Drew Marsh recently had to say on the topic. https://politi.co/3QXDnN4

A big win for the energy transition this week as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued Order 1920, an event that will reshape the energy landscape in the US. It’s a bold move to get clean power online faster, connect gigawatts of new energy projects to the grid, reduce costs, and improve grid reliability across the country. It mandates transmission planners engage in proactive regional planning, assess a minimum set of transmission benefits, and embrace advanced technologies - such as HTS - underscoring a commitment to innovation and efficiency. ⚡Excellent reporting on the FERC story and its impact by Canary Media Inc.'s Jeff St. John - take a look #advancedconductors #HTS #energytransition #netzero #empoweringthefuture #areyoureadyforit

💡Big news from the Department of Energy! While this is a critical step forward, those of us in the energy sector recognize that this is just the beginning. To truly "fix the grid," we’ll need significantly more investment, innovation, and time. A comprehensive solution will require a mix of public funding, private capital, and scalable on-site generation to ensure reliable and resilient power for the future. Let’s keep pushing for the bold steps needed to meet this challenge. 🌐⚡ https://lnkd.in/e4Me2YpW

Exciting times in the energy transmission markets. This along with the MISO Tranche 1/ 2 portfolio is an enormous amount of work that will continue for decades.
The Department of Energy today announced a $700 million grant for the North Plains Connector, a joint project between ALLETE; North Plains Connector LLC, a subsidiary of Grid United LLC; and Portland General Electric. The grant is part of DOE’s Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) program to enhance grid flexibility and improve the resilience of the power system against growing threats of extreme weather and climate change. The 400-mile, high-voltage direct-current transmission line will run from central North Dakota to Colstrip, Montana, and be the first HVDC transmission connection between three regional electric energy markets in the nation. “We’re thrilled and grateful to be part of this historic investment in critical infrastructure and excited to advance our Sustainability-in-Action strategy,” said ALLETE Chair, President and CEO Bethany Owen. “We’re always stronger when we work together, as shown by this program that unites government, utilities and private industry for a common purpose.” https://ow.ly/aVkp50SSlEi

Interesting read on near term electricity reliability planning - growth of intermittent capacity; asset shifts; growing cyber-threats; sector-coupling gas & grid; inter-regional capacity markets and demand growth. A lot to digest. In my view, district energy systems fit perfectly in the mix to support cities, communities and campuses as the energy transition unfolds. https://lnkd.in/eFQr9uGs
