Every team needs one
It’s missing a weather reference, but it’s still 100% me 🙋🏽♀️

I've found Americans like a silent until everyone in the room start, whereas Brits love a chit chat start... Took me a while to notice TBH
When my son asks me what I do...I'll show him this video.
💯 me! When we used to meet IRL, nobody sat in the meeting room before the meeting started in stony silence. We chatted, exchanged stories, updates, gossip.! Why should that change when we are virtual? If I had it my way, the Zoom Virtual Lobby/Teams Waiting Room would be a holding room where you can chat with the people who arrived early or on time whilst you wait for those that are late before you are let in to the actual meeting!
First the "poppins" burn and now this, feeling very personally attacked by Mr Mayhew's 2025 content If he goes after people waving goodbye at the end of calls or trying to slip quotes from Spaced into pitches I'll KNOW I'm not being paranoid
😝🫡 but we do get all the golden nuggets of info that others don’t from our chitty chats 😂
And that awkward move from small talk to lets get into the 'reason for the meeting'!
On behalf of the introverts in the crowd, we deeply appreciate all of you who identify with this. Your great work does not go unnoticed. 👏

5dNot all influence is formal. Not all power is scripted. The ones who truly hold a room are not always the ones leading the conversation. Sometimes, they are the ones setting the rhythm before it even begins. Because business is not just about the deal, the agenda, the strategy. It is about the space. The energy before the meeting starts, the tone before the first decision is made. The personality hire, the warm-up act, the one who makes sure the air is already moving before the “real” discussion begins? They are not filler. They are the current. The unspoken force that makes tension dissolve, that makes clients lean in, that makes every person at the table feel like they belong there before they even open their mouth. The ones who understand this do not just participate. They orchestrate. And the ones who don’t? They wonder why some people seem to own the room before the meeting even starts.
