Sometimes the most powerful decision you can make, is the one no one else sees coming... 🥈 During my time at Treasure Coast High School, I had the privilege of joining the #International #Business #Academy, a decision that forever shaped my path. Through this experience, I met a remarkable woman, named Margaret Choppa, MS, Ed.S, EDD candidate—a mentor, mother, and business powerhouse—who touched my life in ways I never could have imagined. She didn't just teach, she understood me. She saw my potential and nurtured it, offering her wisdom as "golden nuggets" that I knew were priceless. As seniors, our focus in the Academy shifted to college applications—how to navigate that process and, of course, how to do it without breaking the bank. But beyond just financials, she emphasized finding a school that was the right fit for you. For me, that meant stepping out of the box. I knew that staying in Florida wasn't the path I was meant to take. I craved something bigger, a challenge. I had set my heart on studying entrepreneurship, and what better way to do that than applying to the #1 school for #entrepreneurship in the country? But here’s the thing: Babson College wasn’t a name that turned heads in every room (yet). I remember talking with my peers who were aiming for Ivy League schools—Yale University, Harvard University, Princeton University, Stanford University—the “big names.” And whenever I mentioned Babson College, they looked at me like I was missing out. To them, the Ivy League meant prestige and power. But to me, #education was about more than a name. I believed in the value of what I would learn, not the title on my diploma. I took a leap of faith with Babson College, even though I had never set foot on campus. I trusted my instinct, believing that the education I would receive there would be unparalleled in entrepreneurship—a field I am extremely passionate about. And today, I’m thrilled to say that taking that chance paid off!!! Babson College, the “underdog” school, is now ranked #2 among the best colleges in America by The Wall Street Journal! As I continue to serve this academic year as Babson College Student Government Association #President, I'm even more motivated to make a lasting #impact on this incredible community. My goal is to help propel Babson College to that coveted first-place spot next year. So, if you ever find yourself doubting your choices because they don’t align with the "popular" opinion—remember this: the right path isn’t always the obvious one. Proud to be a #BabsonAlumni. A few years ago, I spoke with a Babson MBA graduate who said, "I think if you went to Babson undergrad, you probably don't need an MBA. You already have one." Babson is one thing: a business school. Students eat, breathe, and sleep business—to the point where many of us question our decisions during our freshman year when we realize how committed we are. Heck, we ran our own businesses for a full year as freshmen. There are 0 filler classes. We were required to take a minimum of three applied business statistics classes. Yes, math + business. Sounds like a blast, right? "English" classes weren’t really English classes; they were "rhetoric" classes—the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing—to prepare us for presentations, copywriting, and business communications. "History" classes were essentially centered around businesses that made poor decisions and how we can learn from their mistakes. And of course, there were the classics, like finance, accounting, entrepreneurship, etc. My point: I see a lot of companies requiring (or preferring) MBAs for certain roles... I say that it totally depends on where they went to undergrad. #GoBabo

I have a little "Oscars speech" to make...Perhaps you're thinking about sending your own kid there, or you're considering hiring or collaborating with an alum. I've always been very grateful for my Babson education. It always made me feel I could achieve whatever I wanted in my career. I didn't tap into my entrepreneurial tendencies until 20 years in, but when I did, I was ready. Also, an entrepreneurial mindset can benefit employers in many ways. Being an entrepreneur doesn't always mean starting your own company. It can translate to starting up a business line, product development, sales, marketing, team development - the possibilities are endless. Not to mention some of the greatest accountants, financiers, CMOs, CROs, CFOs, and CEOs I know are Babson alum. One of my few regrets is that I haven't worked with more Babson folks over the years. I've always thought the commonality would make for a really successful outcome! Let me know if you'd like to explore that.
