In the latest issue of The Water Report, our Technical Director for Innovation and convenor of the Water Innovator Alliance, Ian Small, tackles a big challenge in the Water sector, especially for startups and founders - lack of follow-through after successful trials. Too often, proven solutions that could benefit customers, society, and the environment hit a 'bottomless chasm’ when scaling up. Reflecting on this issue, Ian is quoted: “Too many of our members have experienced the chasm firsthand when working with water companies and the supply chain. Despite successful trials, scaling up solutions can feel impossible.” The Alliance was formed to drive change, support innovators, and push the industry to adopt solutions that deliver real impact. Through case studies and advocacy, they are challenging the status quo and responding to key proposals like Ofwat’s implementation fund for AMP8. 📰 Dive into ‘Dodging the Valley of Death’ to learn more - https://lnkd.in/ecqxGAwQ . #WaterInnovation #UtilityLeadership #Collaboration

🌍 Imagine a dedicated team of innovators joining forces to tackle the critical issue of clean water access in rural communities 🚿 . Immersing themselves in village life, the team engaged with community members to understand the daily challenges of water scarcity and its impact on health and livelihoods. They got Inspired by their interactions, the team framed the problem statement: ✍ "How might we ensure sustainable access to clean water in remote villages, considering limited resources and infrastructure?" 🧠 They had a Brainstorming sessions sparked creative ideas—rainwater harvesting systems, low-cost filtration devices, and community-driven water cooperatives emerged as potential solutions. Leveraging local resources, the team developed prototypes—a simple water filtration unit using clay pots and sand, and a rainwater 🌧 collection system using recycled materials. Collaborating closely with community members, they tested their prototypes, gathering feedback to refine designs for usability, affordability, and effectiveness. Through iterative design and community collaboration, the team co-created a scalable water access project. This initiative not only leveraged local resources but also 💪 empowered communities to maintain and sustain the solution over time. This inspiring story showcases the transformative power of design thinking in addressing complex challenges with empathy and practical solutions tailored to local contexts. Let's continue harnessing this approach to drive meaningful change and innovation across the continent! 🌍💧 #Day2of20 #ProductManagement #20DaysinPMWithAA #GIT20DayChallenge Africa Agility Foundation #GITbootcamp #GirlsinTech #AfricaAgility #AfricanGirlsinTechBootcamp #GITBootcampCohort7 #DesignThinking #Innovation #ProblemSolving #CommunityEngagement #CommunityEmpowerment #CleanWaterAccess
