There are currently over 7,000 known rare diseases that affect 30 million people nationwide. To put that into perspective, that’s almost 10% of the U.S. population – more than the entire population of Florida! Thankfully, Florida is leading the nation with programs like the Pediatric Rare Disease Grant, expanded genetic testing in NICUs, and the Florida Institute for Pediatric Rare Diseases at FSU, all of which offer new hope to families.
