Busy year for Serena and my first as a VC :-) 💼 We backed 18 new ambitious companies... 🇪🇺 ...led mostly European founders (with 2 exceptions)... 🇺🇸 ... out of which 12 already started to operate in the US 🔋 Our portfolio companies raised over ~$800m 🎉 We celebrated 6 successful exits 👥 We expanded the team with Juliette, Alix and me So we've tried to do our job as investors but we've also tried to do it while adding concrete value to our founders and our ecosystem, staying true to our "entrepreneurs-turned-VCs" DNA: 🔍 By recruiting dozens of exec positions for our portfolio companies (close to 40% of their open requests) 🤝 By generating hundreds of customer/prospect introductions for our founders (customer discovery + lead gen) 💲 By making dozens of introductions to VCs 📚 By creating and sharing resources such as the European SaaS Benchmark, the Commercial Open Source Benchmark, the Nature Tech Report, and many more that provide actionable insights for founders. 🤝 By launching PALM, our program to promote diversity across the tech ecosystem, together with Ring Capital. 🗓️ By hosting many events to enable founders to have honest, no-BS discussions on important topics. Thank you to our founders, LPs, partners, and our team for being part of this journey. Here’s to an even more impactful 2025!

How investors evaluate startups
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐨 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 9 out of 10 startups fail or go out of business at some point. Here’s how early-stage investors evaluate your startup's investability: 1. Team: Highlight your talented team. 2. Traction: Showcase progress and milestones. 3. Market: Match SOM with investor expectations. 4. Proposition: Clear solution and business model. 5. Competition: Define your USP. 6. Financials: Reasonable, well-justified projections. 7. The Deal: Fundraising amount and valuation. 8. Exit Strategy: Plan for a strong exit. Thoughts? One of the best #videos on #starting up ! In a nutshell : 1. Make a team and that's more important above all 2. Allocate budget for one year and learn to live a meager lifestyle during your first year 3. Track personal accounting and keep it to minimum before jumping on to company's but both are equally important 4. Raising money is secondary and going live in 2 months is more important 5. Don't hire till you need it and hire talent better than yourself. India might not necessarily follow the above but still the video makes lot of sense
