“I think you’re obsessed with that (coaster)” - Adam Faulkner Yeah I was but you have to admit it was a great photo prop at a Workfree.io event 😎 I was really pleased to see how the brand has evolved since my work on it. And it was so lovely to meet people IRL from the Workfree founders, freelance communities, and fellow community leads. Been a fan of Adam’s for a while and meeting a Linkedin connect offline was weird but wonderful. It really did feel not feel like networking although it kind of technically was. It was work-free, and we were notworking. Thanks Amy Choi & Jonnie Cartmill for bringing us all together and organising a fun Workfree day. 🧡 P.S. Join me on Workfree.io 😎✌️ I’m building a community of like-minded creatives and people from advertising, marketing, branding and tech, who want to use their skills to grow businesses doing good. If you’re a founder or a creative and want to work with like-minded people who share your values and passion for a better phygital future, Join my Purpose-Driven Creatives community below and let’s collab👇 https://lnkd.in/djh5e_X8 P.P.S. My 2024 LinkedIn Rewind: From Freelancer to Founder 🌟 2024 was a transformative year for me and REengage Media. From juggling 3 freelance clients to leading a team of 18 passionate professionals, this journey has been about more than just work—it's been about growth, resilience, and balance. Here’s what shaped our story this year: → Grew from working solo at home to opening an office space. → Built a team of 18 incredible individuals who feel like family. → Expanded from 3 clients to 30+ brands trusting us with their retention. → Balanced agency growth while raising my going to be 3-year-old daughter. → Completed therapy, becoming a stronger, more empathetic leader → Built a workplace culture rooted in our Northeast heritage. But the heart of this year? The little victories: • Watching my team thrive and grow into leaders • Creating an inclusive, joyful workplace • My daughter’s giggles after long workdays • Proving that big dreams can bloom in a small town 2025 is all about scaling our impact, strengthening relationships, and taking retention marketing to the next level—while staying true to the values that got us here. To my team, my clients, and my family—thank you for being part of this incredible ride. ❤️ #RetentionMarketing #CustomerLoyalty #BusinessGrowth #MetricsMatter #ReEngageMedia #RetentionMarketing #CustomerLoyalty #WhatsAppMArketing #EmailMarketing #CustomerRetention #Reengagemedia

The first day I was self-employed... This photo was taken 350 years ago (feels like) on the first day of being a full time freelancer. Giving up a job with 52 days paid holiday a year (yes, really!) was no laughing matter. As you can see by my stern-as-hell expression. Back then I had no idea that I: * was going to lose all my lovely clients in one 24 hour window * would buckle my eyesight with so many hours at a laptop * would constantly pivot, evolve, adapt, duck and dive to stay afloat It's been a wild ride, and that's the truth. And it was a very twisty, windy, uppy, downy road to get to where I am now, but I'm here. I'm working hard and doing my best. I'm so proud of the business I'm building. Of the clients I help and the work that I do. None of us really know what's round the corner, but we can always look behind us and see what we worked through. If you're going through some tough times right now, remember all the big things you've overcome to get where you are now. Everything changes. This, too shall pass #marketing #messaging #challenges #mindset #linkedin

Some things catch you by surprise. Like the sudden sunshine on a midweek June day, or finding out there was a #NationalFreelancersDay It's been almost 18 months since I took the leap and here's a taster of my freelance life: Helping to empower the confidence of moderators at a small charity, by designing and delivering bespoke training courses, exploring the how and why of online moderation. Having time to speak at global conferences on topics like vicarious trauma, community team wellbeing, and creating safety when people are in crisis. Guiding a health charity through the process of rebuilding their moderation and operation model - from high level policy and practice, to tackling live challenges and improving forum onboarding. Completing training in counselling skills, content strategy, and Canva (and other things that don't begin with c!). Embracing the freedom of freelance life, including daytime supermarket trips, sunny afternoons in the garden, and evening meetups with my US contacts. Digging deep into the realities of business admin - emails, meetings, pitches, feedback forms, free introductory advice, the wonders of WordPress, and brand design. Speaking of which... Good Community is getting a fresh coat of paint with a brand refresh and new information about my work, and my offer to community pros and teams. More to come soon!

‘Everything is content’ Remember when this phrase went round the internet as a song 😂 It made me laugh so hard. And as a matter of fact, I loved it a little too much. But then you would go ahead to see things from freelancers like this👇🏽 “I’ve been posting consistently as a virtual assistant for 30 days, here are 30 things I learned” 🌝 Then they proceed to say every generic phrase possible. 🙆🏽♀️ Now, I’m not advising anyone to be rigid here In fact being overly rigid is just outrageous.💁🏽♀️ The post MIGHT get you engagement. And… Getting massive engagement is good In fact it’s very good but it doesn’t equal clients and sales, now does it? So while you post the 30 things you learned make sure you strategically create content that fulfills its purpose. Not just the vanity metrics now. But actually seeing results. PS: No church picture today (and the outfit was so fine 🥲) so here’s a picture you’re already familiar with 🌹 #49daysvalinkedinbootcampwithtma, #day41ofvalinkedinbootcamp #strategicconsistency #Day12of360 #CAM

Yesterday did not go as planned. At all. I was so excited to host my 2025 planning workshop in the afternoon (something I do every December). But instead, I had to rush my dog to the vet in the morning, which turned into a 4-hour ordeal. Yesterday's office visit required lots of tests and X-rays. And of course their X-ray machine broke that morning, so I had to travel to another location and get her X-rayed and then go back to the first location to go over the results with her doctor. You can't make this Friday the 13th stuff up. 🤣 All this to say, I had to reschedule my 2025 Planning Workshop for freelancers. The new date and time is Monday, December 16 at 3 p.m. ET on Zoom. I've got helpful worksheets and spreadsheets ready and waiting for you so we can plan your 2025 together. I'll also share a bit of my own plans (maybe they'll inspire you). And if you can't attend live, I've got you covered! You'll have access to a recording. Save your spot today for just $47. My goal for you is to just make one change in your planning that helps you get at least a 10,000% ROI. 😎 LMK if you want to come! #freelancer #freelancing #2025goals #planning #marketing #marketingplan #womeninbusiness

In 2 weeks L&D Free Spirits will be LIVE!!! I hope I haven't just cursed myself 🧙♀️ It’s been a bit of a journey, from musing over the idea of a global L&D Freelance community with Erin Donovan, Ph.D. back in December to gearing up for launch has been amazing…and blooming hard work. In February I made the decision to step back from seeking new clients with Go Ginger Learning Solutions – I’ve still done a bit but not as much as usual. I’ve put everything into this, but I knew early on I needed to surround myself with people. There was no way I could do this alone. Freelancers know that being self-employed can be a little lonely, but it wasn’t just that - I needed more brains. I needed more skills. I needed more voices. Joining me on this epic journey will be (and we're calling them Wizards, because that's what they are): 🤩 Hayley Maisey has been the driving force behind the marketing and has kept me sane. 🤩Lee Wilson will be our Virtual Assistant, think of him as our Yoda behind the scenes. 🤩Jim Oldroyd 🍞💡 will be looking after DEIB and Mental Health, and he's got some content in the works for the site too. 🤩Mark Gilroy will be looking after our podcast…we still need a name for it so look out for the poll to vote for your favourite. 🤩🎙Harriet Patience-Davies will be looking after the newsletter, first edition will be coming to you in October. 🤩Viv Cole will be looking after the coaching offering of Free Spirits, coming in September. We’ve also signed up several Corporate Partners with more to follow, you’ll find out about them in the next few weeks. And we’re sponsoring our first event, the IDTX (Instructional Design Tips Exchange) conference #IDTX24BOA event in October. So you can see, it’s all coming together and I’m juggling a lot right now, and at times my stress levels have been through the roof. But you know what you only launch once so I’m going to enjoy the ride. #Networking #LearningAndDevelopment #Freelancing

𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡—𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐢𝐭, 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞." Imposter syndrome used to have a loud voice in my life, but by God’s help and mercy, I’ve learned to face life head-on, embrace my identity in Him, and thrive in every season. My journey as a freelancer and executive assistant began during the uncertainty of 2020. Volunteering during the pandemic became a transformative experience. I learned a new skill and pushed myself to grow, but I constantly wrestled with the fear of not being "good enough" to share my knowledge or celebrate the positive feedback I received. Then, last year, everything shifted. I stumbled across a powerful video by Adeife Adeoye, where she encouraged others to document their journey, speak boldly, and show the world their craft. Her words resonated deeply: "𝐼𝑓 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑑𝑜𝑛’𝑡 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑘, 𝑛𝑜 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 ℎ𝑜𝑤 𝑚𝑢𝑐ℎ 𝑦𝑜𝑢’𝑟𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑝𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑜𝑓." Since then, I’ve been intentional about showing up, documenting my growth, and embracing opportunities to refine my skills. Emotional intelligence has also been a game-changer for me. Working with diverse cultures and races has sharpened my communication skills, and the results I achieve from intentional and thoughtful engagement have been nothing short of rewarding. This year, I’ve stepped out even more boldly, sharing my journey as a freelancer and content strategist. And honestly? I’m so proud of how far I’ve come! There’s so much ahead to conquer, and I’m excited to see how the freelance space continues to unfold. So, here’s a word to my fellow virtual assistants, freelancers, and dreamers: 𝑲𝒆𝒆𝒑 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅, 𝒏𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒅𝒅𝒔 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒆𝒕𝒃𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒔. Life’s journey becomes richer as we grow daily. 💡 𝑹𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓: - Consistency does the magic. - Emotional intelligence creates impact. - And the grace of God crowns it all. Cheers to showing up, standing out, and inspiring others along the way. Let’s keep thriving and turning dreams into reality. 📌 What’s your story? How have you been showing up for yourself? Share your journey—I’d love to hear it! #FreelanceJourney #VirtualAssistantLife #ContentStrategist #EmotionalIntelligence #ImposterSyndrome #GrowthMindset #NoGivingUp #GraceDriven #ShowUp

2025 is here, and I’m excited about the opportunities it brings to align more fully with the life and work I want to build. For me, that means: 1. Scaling my freelance branding business to support businesses doing good. 2. Redefining family life and finding balance as we embrace new routines. 3. Investing in community (professionally and personally) because connection is where the magic happens. If your business is evolving or growing this year, let’s talk about how refreshed branding, refined packaging, or that big idea you’ve been dreaming of can make an impact. Here’s to a year of purposeful work and rewarding experiences. #newyearnewgoals #creativestrategy #brandsuccess
