In many countries, LGBTQ+ people face stigma and discrimination, which creates barriers to fully exercise their fundamental rights, including accessing life-saving healthcare services. We need to treat all people as we would like to be treated - with respect and dignity! I invite you to read this summary of activities that UNAIDS is launching tomorrow, on #IDAHOBIT, to leverage the voices and work of LGBTQ+ people around the world. A way to showcase their resilience and the strong advocacy efforts for policy change for better healthcare facilities and to protect their rights : https://lnkd.in/epgaausf

Being an ally goes beyond labels. Being an LGBTQ+ ally means actively supporting and advocating for the community. Through advocacy and support, allies help turn 'them' into 'us,' encouraging individuals to be themselves and supporting them on their journey. Let's make our actions speak louder than words and create a more inclusive world for everyone. #LGBTQAlly #DiversityandInclusion #EmpowerLGBTQ

What often gets lost in the conversation regarding gender inclusion is intersex folks who are individuals born with both characteristics of assigned female at birth and assigned make at birth folks. They are often assigned a gender based on external characteristics because we assume genitals equal gender as a society. Only allowing “male” or “female” based on gender assigned at birth denies the existence of intersex folks and prevents them from being included in the structure of society. (Prevalence of intersex babies is the same as red hair.)
Happy Intersex Awareness Day! 💜💛💜💛 We’re partnering with interACT to educate people on what it means to be intersex and how full LGBTQ+ equality includes the intersex community. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/ePhzgtrj

What is “Rainbow Washing?” Rainbow washing, defined as using rainbow colors to show support for LGBTQ equality without meaningful advocacy, is a sneaky marketing tactic. Companies often splash rainbows and LGBTQ imagery in June but forget about it later. This practice, termed "optical allyship," is wrong and unethical, especially when companies harm the LGBTQ community. How to Avoid Rainbow Washing Your Brand: 1. Stay consistent in advocacy. 2. Elevate LGBTQ+ voices. 3. Embrace workplace diversity. 4. Donate to LGBTQ+ advocacy groups. 5. Speak out against injustice. Move forward by being a genuine ally year-round, not just during Pride month. Let's strive for authentic support and allyship beyond the rainbow-colored marketing gimmicks. #HappyPride!
