Co-Founder & CEO at Polipo, the first build tool for Figma

The time spent on Reddit drained me. 🫠 I find it to be the relief valve for so many frustrated people and it took a toll on my energy levels. I am still planning to use it (and use it right) but I consider it to be the kingdom of everything that is wrong about the internet: - Anonimity, - "Being impolite" becomes "being direct", - Glorifying Gossip, - 0 accountability for what you say or do, - Tribalism over freethinking, - Throwing tomatoes at what you envy. During the past few weeks I sent a post to an Italian friend of mine (a Scrum master) to which he replied "I don't have a Reddit account, should I get one?". And I found myself saying: "No, don't do it." So to the many founders who are asking my advice about it, here is the thing. Is it useful? Yes. Do you like it? No. #reddit #take #fridayfunday

I use reddit quite a lot for insights into products and troubleshooting. It has one of the best communities centered around specific products or topics (including health and fitness for instance). Politically and culturally it is a bit of an echo chamber, but for both sides. If you're a sociologist it may also be useful to explore both sides of the same topic.

I joined Reddit couple of months ago. It's actually super useful and you can get some great advice and support. The key is to identify the right subreddits for that. Lotsa experienced people and those who are starting out and sharing their journey. Great startup community there.

I have used Reddit for around 10 years now, it's super good for professional insights, suggestions, or product reviews. For example, I recently used it while searching for a power bank, and found a really good sheet with the best powerbanks rated based on different criteria. Though I was quite surprised at first that it worked for polipo. But I'm also super happy that you found a way that works for you to market it. ✌️and quite a cheap one I'd assume. That's nice.

I totally agree! Reddit can be draining. How do you manage your energy while using it?
