❤️🩹 Finding joy at work ❤️🩹 At the Schwartz Rounds today in Bathurst Hospital, I co-facilitated the rounds and the sharing from staff was so uplifting ❤️ It is a really special space where staff from any department are welcome to come and attend and contribute if they wish. There is a sense of #emotionalsafety in the room. The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare Schwartz Rounds are evidence based forums to support social and emotional wellbeing for staff. Today marks the 4th round at Bathurst in the pilot we are doing. The stories of finding joy were varied, relatable and engaging. I was thinking on the drive home how some of these are #antiburnout factors. The 6 workplace factors that increase vulnerability to burnout are (per Maslach et al): 😩 Unmanageable workload….job strain. 🙌 lack of community. The sense of community in the room today was 💪 😩 Lack of autonomy. Controllables vs Uncontrollables 😕 Misalignment of values. In the workplace or between you and the workplace. 😤 Lack of fairness - that’s decided by you. 🙌 Lack of recognition. How do you go accepting praise? It’s something I have had to work on in my #burnoutrecovery journey. #burnoutprevention #findingthejoy #compassionforclinicians #schwartzrounds
