Ivor Jones talks gambling industry with Adam Rivers

I'm really pleased to have the opportunity to talk to Adam Rivers from Alvarez and Marsal. We share a a passion for the gambling industry. One of the questions I asked him was what has most surprised him in the course of the last 12 months. I think the one that made me I guess smile the most is over the Christmas period when we had the the market reaction to trading results around NFL in the US and the impact that these. Favorite winning all the time basically, or you know, the star wide receivers making all the running yardage, et cetera, had on the market. Because fundamentally we as all the investment community, we feel that we're able to crunch data and understand data and think through things. But what that showed is that actually these events, which are perhaps not as rare as you might necessarily think, aren't necessarily always baked in. And it just made me chuckle because when you think about it, that's effectively the industry we're in. Certain gambling products not necessarily rely, but they wouldn't necessarily be as attractive if the cognitive limitations in the human brain were able to to better predict the outcome of of low probability events.
