This is a completely underwhelming view of the future of hospital IT. If this is your target you need new leadership of technology in your health system. Marc Benioff always used to remind me that less happens in a year than you think and more (change) happens in a decade than you can imagine. And that was before the innovation avalanche of AI entered the picture. Here are just three things of the things I would want in 2035 for Hospital IT. They imply technology structure that need to be in place. A key part of this journey is creating positive returns along the way to create a momentum and further appetite for change. 1. A technology and data platform that allows rolling out and measuring new innovations for their impacting on bending the cost curve of care. This would allow alignment between the pitch for innovation and its impact on care / cost. The lack of this today means everything has to be about money first, and impact on outcomes second (because the threads of impact are too hard to map out) 2. Ambient sensing hospitals which are open platforms for AI models from a broad industry of vendors to help tackle impactful problems in sensing, analyses and decision making in the hospital. The capabilities can be validated in simulation continuously and rolled out in days for the hospital. From general purpose algorithms for falls, deterioration or sepsis - to highly specific scenario driven capabilities (vent weaning, medication dosing, and more); adding capabilities is easier than adding channels (used to be) to a cable subscription. 3. Technology to enable the full continuum of care and care providers. How do we scale the level of observation and intervention in the ICU to the marginal patient in the step down unit? How can we ensure the major workflows in the hospital are translated to hospital at home? Can we apply the knowledge of the best specialists in the world to unique situations at hospitals in New York, Nebraska and Nigeria. If technology simply allowed us to apply the best standard of care to every patient we would see massive improvements to systems globally. Even these, feel like they are not ambitious enough for 2035, but they start us down the path of unlocking the ability to improve care and more quickly adopt future innovations in care in alignment with our people and systems. Covid unleashed the knowledge that change can occur quickly, we need to make sure we do not waste or forget that realization.

Exploring the Latest Trends in Healthcare Hello LinkedIn community, As the healthcare industry continues to evolve rapidly, staying updated on the latest trends is crucial for professionals and organizations alike. In this post, I'll highlight two significant trends that have emerged in the healthcare sector this week, shedding light on the innovations and advancements shaping the future of healthcare delivery. 1. Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) Technology: One of the most prominent trends gaining traction in the healthcare sector is the widespread adoption of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) technology. With the rise of telemedicine and the increasing demand for remote healthcare services, RPM technology allows healthcare providers to monitor patients' vital signs, symptoms, and medication adherence from a distance. This not only enhances patient convenience and accessibility but also enables early detection of health issues and proactive intervention, leading to better health outcomes and reduced healthcare costs. 2. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medical Imaging: Another notable trend in the healthcare sector is the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into medical imaging technologies. AI-powered algorithms are revolutionizing the field of diagnostic imaging by enabling faster and more accurate analysis of medical images, such as X-rays, MRI scans, and CT scans. By leveraging machine learning and deep learning techniques, AI can assist radiologists and clinicians in detecting abnormalities, diagnosing diseases, and predicting patient outcomes with unprecedented precision. This not only improves diagnostic accuracy and efficiency but also enables healthcare providers to deliver more personalized and timely care to patients.
