An Executive Director approaches us about board development for her board. They need to understand their role, they need training in fundraising. They need to have better meetings, they need to show up! Sound familiar? When prospective clients come to us like this, what they are describing are symptoms. MEET THE IMPACT TEAM Once a month a get to spend some quality time with the Private Practice Success Academy's IMPACT Team (aka the Coaching Team). It's a small team. It's a team of only 3, including myself. Yes, there's 4 people in the screenshot below, but that's because the fabulous Kelley is always on-hand to keep us on-track during our meetings. The Impact Team consists of 3 group practice owners that have walked - and continue to walk - in the 👠 shoes 👠 of the private practice owners we coach and mentor. In a mentoring session with a mentee this week, I was being asked about the benefits of being a director in a business, and was reminded of an important lesson I learnt in my 20s: Shareholders have rights. Directors have obligations. That is the bottom line. I have been involved in several legal battles throughout my career, and it always becomes clear that directors are held to higher standards than others. So if you are becoming a director for the first time, or considering a statutory appointment, make sure you understand the legal obligations that you are signing up to, which go along with the nice title of "Director".
