In 1992, only 0.5% of Fortune 1500 companies had their CHRO among the top five highest-paid executives. Today, that number has risen to 13%. This is because every major business challenge now centers around people. This trend is only going to accelerate. And that’s great news for HR professionals. Not just because of the financial recognition, but because of the growing impact HR is making on business success. The key to sustaining this momentum is ensuring that HR initiatives drive measurable business results. When HR consistently improves key business metrics, its strategic importance becomes undeniable. I see it among our customers: -A top vehicle manufacturer is increasing service scores by developing client management skills. -A major retailer is driving branch revenue by upskilling branch managers. -A tech giant is improving sales performance by developing sales teams with industry experts. The pattern is clear: HR success is business success. The more HR leaders align with core business goals, the more they will earn a seat at the table, and rightfully so. Focus on business metrics, and everything else will follow. Josh Bersin and Josh The Logistics Expert just came out with a study that dives into the secrets of top-performing CHROs. It’s worth a read. Link in comments.

A strong case for HR’s role in business success. The data in this article should be a wake-up call for companies that still see HR as a support function rather than a strategic driver.
