‼️Outcomes and Process Measures are NOT the same‼️ Distinguishing between the two can be tricky, here’s how: 👉 Check the link in the comments for a full article on getting it right before you write. ✍ Here’s a quick breakdown of the key questions to ask yourself when differentiating between outcomes and processes: 1) Are you measuring a result or an action? - Outcome: Shows impact (e.g., fall rates, infection rates). - Process: Tracks steps taken, not results (e.g., hand hygiene compliance). 2) Does the data show an end result or describe the pathway taken? - Outcome: Measures impact over time (e.g., decreased infections). - Process: Shows protocol adherence (e.g., compliance rates). 3) Does the measure prove nursing’s impact? - Outcome: Demonstrates change (such as higher satisfaction scores). - Process: Confirms steps followed but doesn’t directly prove impact. 💪 Mastering outcomes vs. processes is key to Magnet documentation that meets nursing’s highest standards. 💙 Friday gratitude post 💙 The NHS gets a lot of criticism for being broken, understaffed, and underfunded—but I’ve got to share my experience this week because they’ve been absolutely amazing. 👏 I had an issue with my eyesight in one of my eyes on Tuesday morning and called 111. Within 30 minutes, I had a call back advising me to go to the Urgent Treatment Centre at QEQM Hospital 👀 ➡️ Assessed within 45 minutes ➡️ Referred to a specialist within 2 hours at the William Harvey Hospital. ➡️ By lunchtime I was prescribed with antibiotic eye drops to take every hour for 48 hours. ➡️ The last couple of days have definitely be fuelled by coffee ☕ and hourly alarms days and night ⏰ ➡️ Back to WIlliam Harvey Hospital yesterday morning and the infection is under control, further medication for a week, but not every hour!! ➡️ My vision should be back to normal within the next two weeks with another appointment already booked to review. I can’t thank the NHS enough for their care. They’ve been brilliant. 🙌 Also, a lesson learned the hard way: I didn’t realise wearing contact lenses while showering, swimming, or exposing them to water could cause infections. 🌊 If you didn’t know either, please take this advice seriously and avoid ending up in my position! It was scary for a while as this bacterial infection of the cornea if not treated quickly can cause loss of sight 👀 #NHSHeroes #FridayGratitude #ThankYouNHS #ContactLensCare #HealthcareMatters #FeelingGrateful

Pleasure as always support training to the Healthcare Infection Society. In my session I talked about how outbreaks in the community are managed. Unlike healthcare outbreaks which tend to be confined to that setting, community outbreaks can be much more widespread and complicated, and require the input from multiple agencies. The different agencies all bring different information, expertise and resources to bear. They all have different statutory remits and crucially different legal powers that may be required. The effective coordination of the multi-agency response is a skill and very much demonstrates how public health is as much an art as it is science. #outbreakmanagement #publichealth

🌟 **One Piece of Advice for Patients Struggling With Chronic Wounds** 🌟 As a Wound Care Specialist and Educator, I often meet patients who face the daunting challenge of managing chronic wounds. While there are numerous strategies to consider, one crucial piece of advice stands out: **"Consistency in Wound Care Routine is Key."** 🔹 **Why Consistency Matters:** Chronic wounds necessitate steadfast, daily attention to heal effectively. Skipping care routines can cause setbacks, increase the risk of infection, and prolong the healing process. Consistency ensures a stable environment that promotes healing and prevents complications. 🔹 **Best Practices for Maintaining Consistency:** 1. **Daily Cleansing and Dressing:** - Regularly change wound dressings as prescribed to keep the wound clean and reduce infection risk. 2. **Monitoring Progress:** - Keep a log of the wound’s appearance and healing progress to track any changes and inform healthcare providers. 3. **Engage with Technology:** - Utilize apps and reminders to maintain your daily wound care schedule. #HealYourWound #WoundWise #WoundCare #ChronicWounds #PatientConsistency #HealthcareInnovation #MedicalProducts #BusinessHealthStrategies - Dr. Alvin May, MD Wound Care Specialist 🍃

🫁 Quick Thought on Respiratory Infections 🫁 As respiratory season progresses I’m curious: How often do you think respiratory infections involve more than one pathogen? Co-infections are more common than we think, which can make diagnosis and treatment more complex—and even impact patient outcomes. Would love to hear your thoughts or experiences in the comments below! Are you seeing an increase in respiratory co-infections? 👇 #Healthcare #RespiratoryInfections #InfectiousDisease #ClinicalInsights
