Naomi Zouwer and I have been working together on some projects over the last few years on the relationships between spaces, creative work and learning. We recently wrote an article - "Current cultural citizens: the importance of creating spaces in art galleries for young people" - for The Conversation Australia + NZ. The article looks at how galleries and museums recognise children and young people as cultural citizens now (not only in the future) and create spaces and programming that welcomes them and reflects their perspectives. By embracing children as current cultural citizens, galleries can create a more inclusive, creative, and culturally aware society. Thanks to my colleague at RMIT University, Dr James Carey for providing an image of 'ponder' - an incredibly inviting and inclusive commission for the NGV. https://lnkd.in/gEj_WBJA
