Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh’s recently launched protein supplements brand SuperYou has raised Series A funding from Zerodha’s Nikhil Kamath and Nithin Kamath. The startup received undisclosed funding from Rainmatter by Zerodha, the venture capital arm of Zerodha. Launched in November, SuperYou was founded under venture studio Think9 Consumer. Singh teamed up with Nikunj Biyani, the nephew of Future Group founder Kishore Biyani, to launch the venture. SuperYou currently sells protein wafers in various flavours. It plans to utilise the fresh capital to scale up production and launch protein products in various categories such as breakfast cereals, biscuits, powder, and snacks. Currently, SuperYou sells its products via its website, and platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Zepto, Blinkit, and Swiggy Instamart. Bengaluru-based Swish, a 10-minute food delivery startup, has secured $2 million in its maiden #funding round led by Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Accel. The round also attracted notable angel investors, including Urban Company co-founders Abhiraj Singh Bhal and Varun Khaitan, and former Swiggy Instamart head Karthik Gurumurthy. The fresh capital will be utilized to expand Swish’s operations across Bengaluru and gradually extend its services to other tier-1 cities. Imaga Trade and Craft Pvt Ltd, operating under the brand name BUMBOO, has raised its first round of angel funding from industry leaders for an undisclosed amount. The round saw participation from Rohan Bhargava (Co-founder of CashKaro.com), Saurabh Gupta (CEO and co-founder of UrbanPiper), Shashank Bijapur (Founder of SpotDraft), Rajneil R Kamath (Former Google and NC Media), Harikrishnan M (DMart), Sridhar V (Microsoft), and Rajat Jain (Think Wealth Limited).   The proceeds will be used to fuel Bumboo's expansion in Indian and global markets. The company claims to have served over 3,500 businesses including prominent names like Zomato, Swiggy, ITC Limited, Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters, Curefoods (EatFit), Chaayos, and Barbeque Nation Hospitality Ltd.. Bengaluru-based meat delivery startup Licious claimed that its loss declined 44% to INR 293.77 Cr in the financial year 2023-24 (FY24) from INR 528.5 Cr in the previous fiscal year 👇 However, the startup’s revenue declined 8.4% to INR 685.05 Cr during the year under review from INR 748 Cr in FY23. The D2C brand earns revenue by selling meat, seafood, cold-cuts, and ready-to-eat meat items across online platforms. In a statement, the startup attributed the decline in revenue to the closure of its sales from platforms Dunzo and Swiggy Meatstore, as well as it winding down exposure to modern trade and local stores. The Whole Truth Foods is reportedly in talks to raise $25 million in its Series C funding round at a valuation of INR 2,000 Cr (approximately $240 million). The round will see participation from existing investors like Peak XV Partners, Accel, Matrix Partners, and Sauce.VC. The company is also engaging with a global VC firm to expand its cap table. This fundraise comes nearly two years after The Whole Truth Foods secured $15 million in its Series B round, led by Peak XV (then Sequoia Capital India), with participation from Matrix Partners, Sauce.VC, and angel investors, including Nithin Kamath (Zerodha), Sriharsha Majety (Swiggy), and Jaydeep Burman (Rebel Foods). The startup, founded in 2019 by ex-Unilever marketing executive Shashank Mehta, began its journey under the name "And Nothing Else." It has since grown into a prominent brand offering healthy snacks like protein bars, peanut butter, and muesli through its website and e-commerce platforms. Financially, The Whole Truth Foods has demonstrated solid progress. Its operating revenue climbed by 82% to INR 65.3 Cr in FY24, up from INR 35.9 Cr in FY23. Simultaneously, it reduced its losses by 32.7%, from INR 35.4 Cr in FY23 to INR 23.8 Cr in FY24. Projections suggest the company will achieve sales worth INR 250 Cr in FY25, which translates to an 8X valuation multiple for this funding round. The brand competes against key players like Yoga Bar (Sprout Life Foods) , Wellbeing Nutrition, RiteBite, and SuperYou. Notably, SuperYou, cofounded by Ranveer Singh, has also reported similar FY24 operating revenue of INR 65.3 Cr while striving for profitability. The round was co-led by RK Family Trust, Tangent Advisors, and Freeflow Ventures, with participation from prominent angel investors such as Ramesh Damani of DMart group and Ajaya Jain. Founded by IIM alumni Richa Sharma and Nischal Kandula, CURRYiT offers a wide range of cooking pastes, including Kashmiri Rogan Josh, Butter Masala, biryani pastes, ginger garlic paste, tomato purees, and instant tadka. The startup aims to provide cleaner and healthier alternatives to existing products in the market, which are often loaded with chemicals, preservatives, and palm oil. The newly raised capital will be used to scale up CURRYiT's manufacturing and distribution capabilities. The startup plans to enhance its brand marketing efforts and strengthen its distribution channels to meet growing consumer demand. With increased production capacity, CURRYiT aims to quadruple its monthly revenue within the next six months. CURRYiT operates a world-class, FDA and ISO-certified in-house manufacturing facility that includes over 40 quality checks. This facility enables the startup to accelerate product go-to-market while keeping costs low and benefiting from economies of scale.
