Lately, there have been a lot of breakthroughs around multimodality and long context windows in AI. Being curious about how to apply these advancements to real-world scenarios, I started exploring Gemini's capabilities in specific industry use cases. Normally, we would spend months training ML models for specific uses. This time, I was impressed with Gemini’s ability to identify moments in a video, provide timestamps and detect objects within it with no further training. Besides that, it is able to reason through the long video and extract insights from it. I am excited to share a blog post in which my colleague Sagar Kewalramani and I described the steps performed to use these capabilities for analyzing restaurant meal preparation performance. Excited to share my latest project inspired by Dr. Andrew Ng's machine learning course! 🎉 After completing the course, I applied my newfound knowledge to build a content-based recommendation system using a neural network algorithm. This system is designed to recommend restaurants to customers of an app-based food delivery service. As the saying goes in data science, "garbage in, garbage out." Ensuring high-quality data significantly improved the accuracy and reliability of the recommendations. It was incredibly fun and insightful to develop this system. It gave me a deeper understanding of how platforms like YouTube and Instagram keep us engaged with personalized content. This experience not only improved my technical skills but also highlighted the real-world applications of machine learning in enhancing user experiences.
