By accident, I re-watched a couple of episodes of Silicon Valley over the weekend. It premiered in 2014 and is still a perfect introduction to the crazy world of startups and venture capital. Anyone in the ecosystem can recognize themselves and/or all the weird characters occupying this space. Watching all six seasons should be mandatory before starting or investing in a tech company. It’s mind-boggling how the creators managed to showcase futuristic elements like self-driving cars, AI, robots, and VR headsets, even before they became mainstream topics of discussion. It’s only the bubble content that changes, not the actual way the bubble is inflating… Movie nerd comment: It would be fun to see someone use the Silicon Valley characters the same way Lemon uses the Thomas the Tank Engine characters in Bullet Train! https://lnkd.in/dsGqTRA3 #siliconvalley #startups #VC #techbubble #buzzwords #piedpiper

My favorite quote is that from the excentric Russ Hanneman about revenue. Paraphrasing from memory it was along the lines of: ”Why would yo go for revenue? If you show revenue, it will never be enough. But if you are pre-revenue, you are a pure play and sky is the limit.”
Nicklas Bergman, I totally agree, Silicon Valley is a classic! What's your favorite episode?
Agree. Cant stop imagining the amount of manual labour behind AI filtering of this post for example)
My favorit of all Netflix flixs
Proud founder, curious funder, applied futurist. Epic failures and a couple of home runs. Deep tech angel + EIC Fund IC. Technology interpreter and rabbit hole explorer. Tech bubble collector. Can’t wait to go skiing.
6moBtw, ping the Erlich Bachmans, Russ Hannemans, Richard Hendricks', and Gavin Belsons in your network... Come to think of it, Monica (Hall) is the only normal character in the series. Not bad, considering she's a VC. 😂
