More surgeons being trained today means more lives saved tomorrow. More people getting a second chance at life. I remember when I started, being an eager student myself, standing in the operating room with wide eyes, soaking in every word my mentors shared. (And I’m still a serious student.) Surgery wasn’t just a profession to me—it was a calling. My father, my mother, and so many mentors shaped my journey. Today, when I train young surgeons, it feels like coming full circle. It reminds me of my own journey. Like my mentors passed on their skills to me not just for my sake, but for a healthier society... I’m doing my best to build a future where more lives are healed. One subject I’m particularly passionate about upskilling in is hernia surgery. Why? Because hernias are one of the most common issues for both men and women, and there is no definitive treatment except surgery. A hernia ignored doesn’t heal. It grows. Slowly, quietly, it impacts a person’s ability to work, exercise, or even enjoy life. For some, it can become life-threatening. That’s why I’m so committed to education, innovation, and training. Recently, I had the privilege of being a faculty member at a cadaver lab, teaching laparoscopic inguinal and abdominal hernia surgeries. The best think is, these young minds are getting trained on advanced technologies and adopt best practices right from the beginning of their careers. So this is so good for everyone. Now, before I wrap up, here’s what I have to say: If you’ve been living with a hernia, don’t wait. Don’t push through the pain thinking it’s minor. The earlier it’s addressed, the better the outcomes. And to my colleagues in the medical field—let’s continue to advance, learn, and teach. Because every innovation, every skill passed on, means another life changed. #laparoscopicsurgery #herniasurgery #herniatreatment #HerniaAwareness #hernia #laparoscopy #laparoscopicsurgeon #LaparoscopicTraining
