When a patient cuts you off while you're speaking, how do you respond? An interesting research article from 2022 discusses the importance of not trying to continue talking when a patient cuts you off. Rather, staying silent and listening to the patient is more effective at building rapport. Also, if you're in the middle of something, like moving a chair, and a patient begins to speak, stop what you're doing and look at the patient in an attentive manner. Sometimes we have to fight our natural instinct of continuing talking in order to connect with patients. Ahlsen B, Nilsen AB. Getting in touch: Communication in physical therapy practice and the multiple functions of language. Front Rehabil Sci. 2022 Aug 4;3:882099. doi: 10.3389/fresc.2022.882099. 🌟 **The Power of Intuition in Medicine** 🌟 Today, I was reminded of the profound role intuition plays in our field, especially with innovative tools like Tyto. 🤔✨ Recently, in two seemingly straightforward consultations, my instincts led to remarkable medical discoveries. Just as a deer perceives an unfamiliar sound, our instincts as healthcare professionals guide us to insights that may be hidden at first glance. What started as a slight concern blossomed into unique narratives that underline the importance of attentive patient care. 👩⚕️💖 🚀 **Call to Action:** I invite fellow healthcare professionals and patients alike to share your stories where intuition shaped your diagnosis or treatment (ensuring privacy is respected). Let’s create a dialogue that highlights the significance of vigilance and attentiveness, particularly in moments when clinics are closed. Together, we can connect, learn, and unlock the incredible potential that resides in our collective experiences. 💬

After surviving some intense sleepless nights, revisions, caffeine consumption that would alarm a doctor (luckily, I’m an audiologist, not a cardiologist), and an existential crisis or two, my latest article is FINALLY published! Couldn't have done it without my amazing co-authors especially Puteri Natasha. https://lnkd.in/gP34S_kw Why should you read it? 1) Because knowledge is power! 2) Because you need a smart-sounding topic for small talk. 3) Because we worked hard on it, and validation is our love language.

We need to break the stigma around these issues and seeking help for them. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #medicalschool #physicianwellness #saysomething #medicine #physician #resident #youmatter #youareenough #support #therapy
