It was a pleasure to represent Loughborough University's Inclusive Engineering Excellence Hub (IEEH) at the Community of Practice event for the Royal Academy of Engineering's Diversity Impact Program (DIP) at Edinburgh Napier University. An incredible day filled with thoughtful conversations and much inspiration! ✨
Last week, the Academy's Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) team held a Community of Practice event for awardees from their Diversity Impact Programme (DIP) at Edinburgh Napier University, allowing awardees to share the lessons learned from their grant-funded projects. DIP provides grant funding of up to £100,000 for new projects in university engineering departments that address the unequal outcomes experienced by students from underrepresented groups. We were honoured to hear talks from Millie Rodgers from the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland, Dr Daphne Chang from The Open University and Dilraj Sokhi Watson of Equate Scotland, with our own Dr Rhys Morgan, Academy Director of Education, energetically wrapping up the day. In the evening, the Academy brought DIP awardees together with #HubMember awardees from the Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub. Academy Fellow Catriona Schmolke CBE FREng gave a fascinating account of her career as an honoured engineering hydrogeologist, followed by product demonstrations from the Academy's Erik Tomlin on the Academy's Culture+, an online platform designed to provide engineering startups and scaleups with the tools to foster an inclusive company culture, Edinburgh Napier on their Library of Inspiration, #HubMember Dr Lorenzo Conti on Crover robotics and #HubMember Dr Ifeyinwa Kanu on IntelliDigest .
