I've been using Upwork for the last three years, and it's been a great way to generate passive income. But lately, I've noticed some changes that are making it tougher for new freelancers to get started. Upwork has increased the number of connects needed to apply for jobs, and now they're even charging connects when you send proposals for jobs you've been invited to. This makes it really hard for newcomers to get a fair shot. These changes need to stop to make Upwork a better place for everyone. Let's speak up and push for fairer practices to support all freelancers, especially those just starting out. #Freelancing #Upwork #SupportNewbies #FairFreelancing #RaiseYourVoice #FreelancerCommunity

Upwork has increasingly made everything about connects, and it's becoming frustrating for freelancers. I recently came across a client profile with an incredibly low hiring rate—barely 2%—yet applying for the job requires 19 connects. It’s shocking, especially considering the client has spent $22k on Upwork but doesn't seem to hire often. What about all the jobs posted where people applied, but no one was hired? All those connects just go to waste. For jobs like this, the required connects should be less than 10, as it’s unfair to freelancers to keep paying for opportunities that rarely materialize. It's time for Upwork to rethink this system. #Upwork #Freelancers #BusinessDevelopers

Upwork's Latest Change: Connects Now Required for Job Invites When clients invite you to apply for a job on Upwork, you'll now need to use Connects to submit a proposal. This change means that regardless of how freelancers find a job, Connects will be required to apply. As a result, more freelancers might decline invites, and clients will need to consider those who paid to apply. It could also stop scammers from inviting new freelancers since they won't have free Connects to start with. I can see both pros and cons to this change. Although it hasn't been officially announced, I noticed the update in their help article, and a moderator on their forum also mentioned it in one of the comments, so it appears to be official. #upwork #upworksuccess #businessdevelopment

Recently, I've been noticing how competitive Upwork has become. On one side, we have low bidders rushing to grab projects; on the other, high bidders often dominate without letting others move forward. It’s becoming a real challenge for skilled freelancers to stand out. One area I think Upwork can improve is the client job posting process. When a client posts a job, the platform should limit their ability to send invites afterward. There should be a separate strategy for invite-based clients. If they prefer to handpick freelancers, it would be better if they do so without making others apply, bid, and wait unnecessarily. Freelancers deserve a fair system where everyone gets an equal opportunity to showcase their skills. Do you agree? #Freelancing #Upwork #FreelancerTips #WorkFromHome #JobMarket #FreelanceLife #LinkedInCommunity #CareerGrowth #RemoteWork #SkillDevelopment

🚨 Attention Upwork Community 🚨 It's time we address a critical issue affecting many of us freelancers on the platform: clients who post multiple jobs but never hire anyone. As freelancers, we invest valuable time and resources, including precious connects, to apply for these jobs, only to be left hanging without any response or outcome. This not only wastes our efforts but also creates a frustrating experience for those genuinely seeking work. I urge Upwork to take action against such users by implementing stricter policies or even banning those who repeatedly post jobs without any intention of hiring. Let's create a more efficient and fair environment for everyone on the platform. Your thoughts and support on this matter are highly appreciated. Together, we can push for a positive change! 💪 #Upwork #Freelancers #FreelanceCommunity #ClientResponsibility #UpworkImprovement

Upwork As a freelancer on Upwork I've noticed an issue: we spend many Connects to bid on jobs that don't result in any hire. This is frustrating and discourages many talented professionals. I suggest Upwork introduces a small fee for clients to post jobs. Here’s how it could work: Job Posting Fee: Clients pay a small fee to post a job, showing they are serious about hiring. Fee Refund: If a client hires someone or cancels the post, they get the fee back. Fee Retained for No Hire: If no one is hired and the job is not canceled, the fee is kept and used to give back Connects to freelancers who applied. Benefits: Encourages clients to post serious jobs. Fairer for freelancers, with better returns on Connects. Improves the overall quality of job posts on Upwork. I believe this idea is fair for both freelancers and clients. I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. Thank you! #Freelancing #Upwork #JobPostings #FreelancerFairness #JobQuality

Hello EveryOne Freelancers on Upwork work hard to deliver quality results, often relying on the platform to connect with genuine clients. However, issues arise when profiles misuse the platform, posting numerous jobs (sometimes 65+!) with verified payment but failing to hire anyone. This kind of activity wastes freelancers' time, disrupts trust, and can even damage productivity for those seeking real opportunities. A reminder to the Upwork community: let's watch for red flags and use the reporting tools when necessary to maintain a safe and fair environment. Let’s work together to ensure Upwork remains a space where serious professionals can thrive and focus on real opportunities! 💼✨ #Upwork #FreelancerSupport #FreelanceCommunity #DigitalMarketplace #FraudPrevention #Freelancers #RemoteWork

I started using Upwork over a decade ago. Back then, it was a great platform that connected freelancers with clients easily. The fees were low, and it was simple to find good jobs. However, things have changed over the years. Upwork introduced a system where freelancers need to buy "connects" to bid on jobs. At first, this seemed okay, but now it's become expensive and difficult to get hired. Recently, I bought 100 connects for $17.70, which is about 1500 INR. This means each connect costs me 15 INR. To apply for a job that needs 14 connects, I have to spend around 200 INR. Even after spending this money, I rarely get responses from clients. The latest issue was shocking. Today, I received a job invitation. When I tried to apply, I was charged 14 connects. Now, even job invitations cost money. I don't understand what Upwork is doing. The platform that once helped freelancers find good jobs easily has become complicated and expensive. It's frustrating and disappointing to see how much it has changed. #upwork

📣 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 Upwork 📣 A recent trend of encountering fake job postings and unresponsive clients raises concerns about the platform's user experience. Upwork, we deserve better! Dear fellow freelancers, Can we get Upwork to help us understand why they're unable to regulate the activites of clients who post gigs on the platform only to abandone them at the last minute? This has gotten out of hand lately and its not in the least funny to me. It's frustrating to spend our hard earned connects on job listings and sometimes even boosts with extra connect for better visibility only for clients to vanish. I genuinely wonder, if there is nothing Upwork can do to prevent this, is there something happening behind the scene we're just not privy to? Over the last month, I've personally burned through over 500 connects on jobs that were left hanging and honestly, it's not just the wasted connects alone but the feeling of chasing opportunities that just aren't there. This is something I believe Upwork really needs to take a closer look at. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you been facing the same thing? #Upwork #Freelancing #Connect
