Over a decade ago, hospitals led a cautious but steady integration of smartphones and other WiFi-enabled devices into their clinical practices. Today, cross-team collaboration is predominantly coordinated with this technology, but healthcare leaders are still reporting a significant reliance on pagers and other traditional forms of communication. How can we take a fragmented health care system and unify resources to created a more cohesive, meaningful experience for patients, payers, and providers? As Innovista CEO Vik Bakhru, MD MBA (he/him) explains, "Value-based care is a decisive step toward that change—toward a future where aligned incentives unite the ecosystem, driving collaboration and pushing stakeholders toward mutual gains that benefit patients." #valuebasedcare #healthcare #innovation
President & CEO | Board Member | Physician | Digital Health Entrepreneur | Innovating at the intersection of value-based care and health equity
Health care innovation isn’t always about invention (adding something new). More often, it’s about convention (bringing together what’s available). In a fragmented system, more tools probably won’t solve our problems. But a meaningful effort to unify current resources behind a single purpose might. Think about it this way: The iPhone changed the world because it unified what was once discrete. Cameras, notepads, stereos, maps, friendships—suddenly we could hold them all in our pocket. And Apple’s value is less about its individual devices and more about the unified ecosystem connecting those devices. The thread that binds the parts creates a sum greater than its parts. It also creates unwavering consumer loyalty. A similar binding thread could change health care. I see value-based care as a decisive step toward that change—toward a future where aligned incentives unite the ecosystem, driving collaboration and pushing stakeholders toward mutual gains that benefit patients. Every individual’s health is a collaborative effort. So every individual deserves a system of care built on bringing people and ideas together—that’s collaboration! #valuebasedcare #collaboration #healthcare #innovation

Over the weekend, I delved into the #MelbourneTechInnovationExpo with my researcher hat on. Through conversations and observations, I identified a #recurring #challenge: the need to normalize mainstream tech features in assistive products, making them more adaptable and functional. For instance, integrating simple, modular add-ons—like attachable phone chargers or speaker slots—could empower individuals to customize their devices to fit their unique needs and preferences. These aren’t revolutionary innovations, but small steps that could have a profound impact. After all, independence isn’t one-size-fits-all(it’s personal). How can we ensure our innovations truly reflect that? Something to think about. #TechForGood #InclusiveDesign #AssistiveTechnology #MelbourneTechInnovationExpo #MelbourneDisabilityExpo

Hey friends and colleagues - crowdsourcing here: I’m exploring emerging technologies that incorporate Bluetooth LE audio (like Auracast) to enhance accessibility in mobile meeting settings. This technology can broadcast sounds directly to hearing aids, earbuds, or headphones making meetings more inclusive for people who relies on assistive devices. If you’ve come across the following: * Bluetooth LE Audio - enabled products (transmitters, hubs, or receivers) * companies or organizations experimenting with Auracast * or any innovative solutions designed to support accessible, portable meetings Please share your insights!!! Whether it’s a new device, project you’ve heard about, or even a company exploring this space, I’d love to learn about your thoughts. Feel free to tag others who might have expertise in this area. Let’s crowdsource for some cutting-edge ideas for a more inclusive future! TIA! #bluetooth #bluetoothle #bluetoothlowenergy #auracast #broadcast #leaudio
