Monte Dobson’s Post

View profile for Monte Dobson

CEO and Lead Country Manager at ExxonMobil India

How time flies! I’ve retired from ExxonMobil after nearly 31 years. Leading ExxonMobil in India has been a perfect finish to an immensely rewarding #career. Thanks to all with whom I’ve made progress in advancing ExxonMobil’s India journey. My time in #India helped me appreciate the energy trilemma even more. My interactions with the government leaders charting India’s energy path were always candid, thoughtful, and firmly centered on the needs and aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians.  One of the most striking things about India is the unprecedented scale and breadth of talent available here. It provides huge opportunities to companies like ExxonMobil looking to capitalize on their own scale. It’s also why Indian talent will increasingly play a larger role in solving the challenges of today and tomorrow in energy and beyond. As I hand over the reins of ExxonMobil India to my very capable successor Michael Mustian, I’m leaving with a deep conviction that ExxonMobil will continue to play a vital role in the world and our team in India will be key to its success. This is not the end of my bond with India. My wife Chris and I will forever remain friends of this great country that gave us a lot❤️ We look forward to returning annually to check in on India’s progress and our community of little friends at Shanti Bhavan Children's Project. Thank you, #India, for enriching our lives and our understanding of India and the world. Until we meet again☺️

Monte, many congratulations on your retirement and your impactful spell in India. I will always fondly remember our times working together in Fort Worth and Houston, and the energy you brought to every role and challenge you faced. All the best to you and Chris in the next chapter!

Monte Dobson An end to an era! But it makes us so happy to know that you'll be coming to see the children of Shanti Bhavan Children's Project. See you soon!

Monte, Time really flies and youbwould have spent quite a bit of it flying between Bengaluru and Delhi. None of those frequent flights between Delhi and Bengarulu was ever visible on your face. The face was always bright, welcoming and full of charm. Great having had some significant discussions during tenure at ONGC and even post that. It was again coincidental to have met you alongwith Michael Mustian at IEW and I am sure that Mixhael will also have a sterling tenure in India. Hope to see to as you visit India next time or as we come across elsewhere in the world. Wishing you all the best in life! Namaste!

Monte Dobson you are a class act, brilliant and one of the most fantastic human beings I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Your technical and business impact is epic and the only thing more impactful has been how you’ve developed and elevated people around the world. I’ll speculate that you’re not done actively having a positive impact, but I am 100% certain your legacy of positive impact will continue to propagate. Enjoy!

Congratulations on a remarkable 31-year career! Your legacy will continue to inspire the team and contribute to future success. Wishing you the best of luck in this new chapter, Monte. 👏

So glad our crossed paths in our careers. It’s been fun to virtually follow your final tour of duty in India. May you have a fulfilling next chapter of life. Keep on running. 🏃
