The ADM technical diagram for a compact LFTR designed for use on spacecraft. Combines a traditional steam generator with an innovative thermoelectric generator which promotes cooling, temporary power in case of unplanned reactor shutdown, and increases the overall efficiency of the reactor system. Note: For those who are familiar with LFTR's, I know microgravity means the emergency dump system probably isn't passively safe, and will require a pump powered by the thermoelectric generator. This solution seems inelegant.

NOAA has raised the alert level for geomagnetic storms expected following the four Earth-directed CMEs to G4, (G5 is the highest), for early May 11 (UTC). Meanwhile, actually right now, the same active region 3664 released another X1.12 class flare 💥 This could mean ⬇️ Power systems: Possible widespread voltage control problems and some protective systems will mistakenly trip out key assets from the grid. Spacecraft operations: May experience surface charging and tracking problems, corrections may be needed for orientation problems. Other systems: Induced pipeline currents affect preventive measures, HF radio propagation sporadic, satellite navigation degraded for hours, low-frequency radio navigation disrupted, and aurora has been seen as low as Alabama and northern California (typically 45° geomagnetic lat.). - from NOAA website Stay tuned!

Whether in low-Earth orbit (LEO), medium-Earth orbit (MEO), or geostationary orbit (GEO), #satellites experience specific conditions directly related to their orbital path, such as high Doppler shift, frequency handovers, long signal delay, and high path loss. The Maury Microwave ACE9600 Advanced Channel Emulator of the dBm Channel Emulation product line enables engineers to thoroughly test and optimize the performance of satellite communications systems designed for LEO, MEO, or GEO by reproducing each satellite orbit’s unique aspects. Learn how the ACE9600 meets the testing needs of satellite systems: https://hubs.la/Q02TKNNJ0 #SatelliteCommunications #SatelliteNetworks #TestAndMeasurement
