Appearing at the NSW Special Commission into Healthcare Funding, Ms Pearce said the timeframe and stringent limitations attached to existing funding models restricted LHDs’ capacity to “go out and make change” for their communities. At the same time, echoing several previous Inquiry witnesses such as Western NSW LHD CEO Mark Spittal, Ms Pearce highlighted the inequitable nature of NSW Health’s funding allocations to LHDs that disadvantaged rural and regional LHDs in several ways, including through the provision or lack thereof of additional “growth funding”.
