Companies that effectively harness intelligent technologies, like #AI, are accelerating product development, manufacturing, operations, and customer centricity. However, only a small portion of organizations are adopting intelligent technologies at a scale that can fast-track their business strategies. While there are several reasons for this, we believe having the right level of technology expertise on the board is an important prerequisite for driving industry-leading performance, especially in Life Sciences. In the recent report I co-authored, ‘Bending Time’ in the Age of Generative AI: Is Your Board Ready?, we discuss how to address this gap and suggest three ways companies can embed technology expertise in their boards. Our research reveals that only 8% of board members at the top 20 life sciences companies are “technology experts.” This stark statistic highlights a significant gap as we rapidly advance into the era of Generative AI. Ensuring the right level of technology expertise on the board is crucial for driving industry-leading performance. In the recent California Management Review article I co-authored with Arjun Bedi and #FredHassan we discuss three strategies for integrating technology expertise into company boards https://lnkd.in/engcYXAu Emily ThorntonRebecca TanGargi Chakrabarty #GenerativeAI #LifeSciences #BoardExpertise #Innovation

Recent CIF research highlights AI's indispensable role in modern business strategy, with 42% of organizations now prioritizing it as their most critical IT initiative. This statistic was just one of many eye-opening insights from an article I recently explored, detailing the transformative power of AI in today’s technology-driven landscape. What resonated deeply with me was the immense value AI brings to businesses. Beyond just improving processes, AI drives innovation, fosters agility, and positions companies for long-term success in an increasingly competitive market. The ability of AI to enhance scalability, elevate job roles, and significantly boost profitability is unparalleled, making it a cornerstone of future-ready organizations. As AI technologies continue to evolve, their potential to reshape business performance and redefine competitive advantage will only magnify. For any organization looking to stay ahead of the curve, AI should not just be on their radar—it should be a central focus of their strategic planning. #BusinessValueCreation #ArtificialIntelligence

Invest in Data Infrastructure. AI systems rely heavily on data. Therefore, ensuring that businesses have robust data infrastructure that can collect, store, and process large volumes of data securely and efficiently, is necessary. Generative AI (Gen AI) in particular requires good data and so companies harnessing this technology need to invest in this to train their AI models successfully. Investment ultimately leads to greater business outcomes and a workforce that can fully realise the positive impact that AI and machine learning can offer an organisation - both internally and for its clients and customers. #onpremise #genai #machinelearning #datainfrastructure #datascience #artificialintelligence #business #infrastructure #storage #dataprocess

A report by HFS Research highlights the transformative potential of generative AI (Gen AI) for businesses. This survey of 260 enterprise leaders provides insights on how companies can transition from a visionary "dreamer" mindset to a practical, implementation-focused "doer" mindset. Every leader surveyed indicated that Gen AI would be integrated into their IT programs within the next 12–18 months. Additionally, 39% expect its application to be widespread, encompassing more than half of their IT initiatives in the same period. Key findings from the study include: ↳ About a third of businesses already exhibit a practical "doer" mindset for Gen AI adoption, while the remainder are still in the planning or "dreamer" stages. ↳ Nearly two-thirds of the "doers" are investing in new value sources and operational enhancements. ↳ Accelerating Gen AI adoption hinges on a clear return on investment, addressing risks, and preparing data and personnel. ↳ When engaging with Gen AI and AI service providers, companies prioritize business value, cost-effectiveness, and technical expertise and support. ↳ "Dreamers" are almost 50% more likely to seek a strategic vision from service providers, whereas "doers" demand robust delivery capabilities and a willingness to share risks and rewards. The findings from the HFS Research report underscore the critical importance of transitioning from a visionary to a practical mindset when adopting generative AI. While it's inspiring to envision the transformative potential of Gen AI, the real value lies in its implementation. AN IDC study finds only 3 out of 37 AI proofs of concept make it to production. For business leaders, this is a reminder that AI isn’t just about technology; it's about strategy. Overcoming challenges like data privacy, cost, and integration with smart governance unlocks its full potential. To stay ahead, executives need to treat technology as a key part of their broader business strategy—ensuring it drives lasting innovation and measurable success. #GenerativeAI #AI #BusinessStrategy #FutureOfWork #Innovation
