Our co-founder Richard Bavlsík attended the HVCA Investment Conference yesterday! 💼✨ 🌍 The panels provided an international outlook: With a special focus on the various perspectives of VCs from the region, compared to Hungary. One thing is sure: CEE ecosystems are rising. ↗️ 🤝 The networking opportunities were a highlight. Beyond VCs, the event attracted a diverse mix of professionals, including consultants, private equity, experts, and service providers. All contributing to dynamic discussions. 💡 One major takeaway: the role of the state in innovation ecosystems. There's a clear consensus that while governments should help kickstart financing, they need to step back as the ecosystem matures. The private equity market in Southern Europe has great potential. CEO of umgi, Andrii Gorokhov, shared a positive prognosis in his interview at the Private Equity Insights 2024 conference in Milan (Italy), where he moderated a panel on the implementation of ESG and Impact Investing. Despite the challenges, the valuations are becoming fairer, and the region remains attractive for foreign capital. umgi is one of the investors willing to contribute to the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Italy, Spain and other countries of the region. Andrii Gorokhov also emphasised the role of ESG-compliant instruments in asset management and securing sustainable growth. M&G Investments has committed over €100 million to the European Fund for Southeast Europe (EFSE) to support entrepreneurship and job creation in Southeastern Europe. "This is the largest single investment by a private investor in the fund to date," says Andrea Hagmann, EFSE Board Chairperson. Initiated in 2005, EFSE is now one of the largest development financiers in the world, with over €1.3 billion in assets. It pioneered a public-private partnership model for impact investing. EFSE is advised by Finance in Motion, and HAUCK AUFHÄUSER LAMPE provides various services for the fund. Climate resilience is, definitely, the right thing to focus on. Innovation in business is also essential to help economies in their path to get climate resilient quicker. We celebrate that EIB’s & EIF’s efforts are going in that direction. Time is pressing and little has been done to support the cause for becoming climate resilient. We will all need to push from any corner in all governments, civil societies and economic stakeholders to educate society implement efficient programs that will drive us all to get sound and fast results. From trade organizations, as FEBIS, and multilateral bodies as the ICCR - (the permanent committee of the World Bank on credit reporting) we follow through on our commitments and are trying to help regulators in their efforts, and societies, to get ready for this new paradigm.  We will start publishing a variety of initiatives in the coming months.

A range of Scandinavian companies will now be able to access financing for digital and green projects thanks to a NOK 286 million (€25 million) investment by the European Investment Fund (EIF) in Credo III.
