How impactful is professional feedback for aspiring actors? 🎭 In a discussion with my student, we reflected on the transformative power of professional feedback during The Talent Tour. My student shared how the initial training days were enlightening, especially with expert feedback from teachers like Tom Campbell. On the second day, Craig from Avalon Artist Group provided invaluable insights into what agents seek. The real impact hit on the final day, seeing the setup and realizing the seriousness of the event. Professional feedback from industry experts truly elevated the experience. Professional feedback from experienced mentors and industry agents can transform an aspiring actor's journey. 🌟 Embrace professional feedback to elevate your acting career. 🎬 P.S. I had the opportunity to lead an #audition technique and #mindset mastery workshop for a group of about 20 young performers this past week, and I am still flying so high from the experience! 😅 I absolutely LOVE being able to combine my 2 professional worlds of #coaching and #acting to help performers (of all ages) become better, more confident auditioners. I told the kids this past week that if I could leave them with ONE thing for them to take with them moving into future #auditions and the rest of their developing careers, it is this: “No one is you and that is your superpower.” 🌟 The BIGGEST shift I saw in my own acting career (and audition “success”) was when I STOPPED trying to be what I thought people were looking for, and instead focused on showing off what made ME unique. Shifting my approach to think about things like: What do I LOVE to do? What am I GREAT at? What do I LIKE about myself? What makes me UNIQUE? What is my artistic individuality? What makes me DIFFERENT from other artists? …and enjoying the process of discovering and then proudly SHOWCASING those things. In life and in acting - when you know exactly who you are and what makes you YOU - that confidence, presence, and #authenticity radiates out of you… and makes people WANT to connect with you! (Or in the case of acting and auditioning - and even in interviewing and job searching - it makes people want to WORK with you!) So - do yourself a favor and stop trying to be what you think people want. Because we never TRULY know what that is anyways, right? (And more often than not, the people on the other side of the table don’t know exactly what they’re looking for either!) Be YOU. And trust that what’s meant to unfold for you will do so 💗

🌟Are you an aspiring actor trying to make your mark in the industry, or a parent guiding a future star? Understanding the dynamics of the acting world is crucial, and two key elements often come up in discussions: Networking and Mentorship. 🔗 Networking opens doors to new opportunities and is essential for gaining visibility in a crowded field. It connects you to the industry, allowing access to auditions and casting calls that might otherwise be out of reach. 🧭 Mentorship, on the other hand, provides personalized guidance and insider knowledge that helps you navigate the complexities of the acting world. A mentor prepares you for opportunities, ensuring you make the most of every connection and audition. 👀 Take a look at the infographic below and let us know: Which has been more influential in your career, or what do you think will be more valuable for your journey in acting? 👇 Share your thoughts in the comments! The power of parallel pathways One common challenge I see with clients is focusing on just one way to reach their goals. While focus is powerful, hyper-focusing on a single route can become an Achilles' heel, blinding us to other valuable opportunities. Let’s take the example of an actor aiming for Broadway. Instead of relying on auditions alone, imagine the other pathways: ✱ Building relationships with casting directors ✱ Becoming a reader for a casting director to gain familiarity ✱ Networking with other performers to secure valuable introductions ✱ Even taking a job as an usher, using the role to connect with industry professionals ✱ Training with top voice or acting coaches, or strengthening dance skills Remember, every action you take in the direction of your dream adds momentum to the other pathways you’re pursuing. Often, the magic happens when we open ourselves to multiple paths, moving closer to success from every direction. What parallel paths could you pursue for your goals? 💡 Looking for more unmessablewith tips and tricks? LIFE SKILLS GAINED AS AN ACTOR..... 🔸Imagination: Acting techniques help us to explore the creative mind and envision innovative ways of doing and expressing ourselves. 🔸Improvisation: Makes us pivot with the unexpected. Improv” like life requires the ability to stay calm in a seemingly chaotic situation. It develops critical thinking. 🔸Teamwork and Collaboration: Every part no matter how big or small, is equally important. Through collaboration we are all applying different skillsets to create a work of art together. It strengthens community. 🔸Respect and Tolerance: Everyone has their own unique lens and perspective to storytelling. Value everyone’s contribution. 🔸Social Benefits: A sense of belonging. Working in a group, taking risks, creating a sense of achievement, using the theatre as a means of escape, and sticking to a commitment are a few of the ways we can benefit from performing and form community with no judgment. 🔸Handling Rejection: Failure is part of the lesson. Perhaps your scene didn’t work or you didn’t get the part. NEVER let rejection define you and never let other people’s opinions or visions determine your SELF-WORTH. Figure out what can be gained from each experience and turn it into opportunity. 🔸Emotional Awareness: Acting requires the ability to channel and express many different emotions, and to take chances “in a naturalistic approach.” 🔸Concentration: Focus, mindfulness and listening are key skills that will enhance clarity and other aspects of our everyday lives. 🔸Public Speaking: Actors know how to move with purpose. They are masters of storytelling and body language, speak eloquently and expressively, use breath to support the voice, connect with the audience, and speak clearly and audibly. 🔸Self-Confidence: Training as an actor helps build confidence and diminishes fear! Tools and strategies for success and boosts self-esteem. Embrace these techniques, discover your greatness within and become more successful in LIFE! #acting #lifeskills #actorslife #aidahamont #johncassavetes #successmindset #actingcoach #mentor #lifecoach #believeinyourself #selfworth #confidence #publicspeakingcoach

Was reading this article on Inc which talked about having to work towards things makes achieving them more valuable. It made me think about needing to have some “skin-in-the-game.” Anything you do - and being a voice artist is part of this - takes effort. “How much” effort we put into something usually has a direct correlation to being successful at it. A career in voice acting needs you to adjust your thinking so you know you’re into it for the long haul. “Sudden stars” are rare. Getting the right training and working with an experienced coach will help you get your feet firmly planted on the path towards a career in voice acting. #VoiceoverCoaching #VoiceActingCoaching https://lnkd.in/gaBaBEFX

As someone who is involved in different roles in the entertainment industry, I’m constantly learning. I’ve been studying what agents look for as a model—it’s never one-size-fits-all. Whether it's a distinct look, versatility, or raw authenticity, understanding these preferences helps me adapt my style while staying true to myself. In acting, casting directors value the same thing—bringing your own depth and perspective to a role can make all the difference. As a filmmaker, I’m learning that balancing creative vision with what resonates with today’s audiences is key. It’s about crafting a story that connects while staying true to my voice. It's all about growth and adaptation in this ever-changing industry.

So, I have to break it to ya… Here’s what I’ve learned listening to and working with actors where I feel they can get in their own way. Actors want to be working actors and even book a series regular, but… 1 They are afraid to try new things and play safe staying in the same acting class for years, but they struggle to book. And I’m not knocking your current teacher, but stay curious to what else you can learn after it’s been some time. Switching up teachers and techniques was key for me to becoming a working actor. 2 They can tend to talk more about what they know they need to do or hear advice as to what they should do next, but never take the steps to enroll in an acting class, get new headshots, hire an audition and career coach, or attend casting workshops, etc. 3 They feel more comfortable complaining about their representation not responding to their emails or getting them auditions for over a year vs. deciding to drop them and go free up their energy to look for new representation to carve out a career they truly want. 4 This one is soooooo common to hear actors talk about money being their reasons for not taking action, not being happy or not getting ahead in their career. If you want to move ahead, let your nances be your number one priority to figure out and plan out so it’s no longer a barrier to moving forward in your career. And know it’s OK if by taking time away to do that you feel behind if you do because you are not, you’re just taking time to do what you need to do to propel you and your career forward. Are you getting in your own way? Don’t let this year go by without actually taking the leap. Need help sorting this all out? 🎭Beyond Dance and Drama: Leadership Insights🎥 "Are you sure you can do it? You don't look tough." In 2022, I had the honor of leading the stage management team for the University of Ibadan's convocation play. Despite my comfort zone being smaller productions with 15-30 cast and crew members, I embraced the challenge of overseeing a team of over 100 individuals. Initially daunting, I quickly realized that leadership isn't about appearance but about earning respect through knowledge, confidence, and communication. As my directing lecturers emphasizes, “There's nothing spectacular about being a director, it's the most useless art of the theatre but it also very important. The only way to be a good director is by having knowledge!” Effective communication breeds respect. The cast and crew comprised classmates and students from various levels, some who might have seemed intimidating. Yet, with God's grace and a cohesive team, we navigated challenges like missed cues and lax attitudes towards preparation. In my role as stage manager, I was omnipresent—assisting the orchestra, backstage with actors, or coordinating with the set and costume teams. Delegating tasks to my fellow stage managers also taught me multitasking at its finest. It was a transformative experience, proving that introverts can excel in leadership roles. I may have snapped at one or two people, or maybe more😅 but we got the job done. It was a learning curve that reinforced the importance of perseverance and adaptability in leadership. Even the assistant director was impressed, saying, “I didn't know you could handle it so well.” Do not let anyone dictate your strength and weakness! 💡Share your leadership tips in the comments, let's kickstart the week with self-improvement insights. If you're new here, welcome to my 🎭Beyond Dance and Drama Series🎥. I'm Priscilla, a theatre artist, entry-level Virtual Assistant, writer, and social media manager. #Leadership #TheatreArts #StageManagement #IntrovertLeadership #SelfImprovement #Multitasking
