I am absolutely mind-blown—not because I work at Google, and this isn’t an advertisement. I’ve been trying out Google NotebookLM, and it’s incredible. Starting with just an uploaded document, it can generate an audio conversation between two people in podcast form, discussing the document. I tried it with my Venice TedEx script, and the results were shocking—here’s the link (it took less than a minute!). https://lnkd.in/drH6nx8c I also tested it with some personal fiction I wrote in Italian years ago, and it generated an English audio version that dove deep into the layers of the manuscript, analyzing the characters and their interactions. Each of us has that ‘Wow’ moment in our AI journey, and for me, this was it—by far the biggest since the AI hype began. The way the podcast discussion unfolds is profound, adding layers of insight to the content rather than just summarizing it. The tone and voices in the podcast are chosen carefully, and they’re always perfectly in context. I believe if we do a great job at Google and maintain this tool well, it will drastically transform the media, entertainment, and content creation industries. A few weeks ago, I came across Notebook LM by Google, and I have to say – it’s been a game-changer for me. 📚 What’s unique about Notebook LM is that you can add your own sources, letting it base responses on information that matters most to you. If you’re worried about hallucinations when working with AI, this tool helps reduce that fear. One feature that really blew my mind is the Audio Overview. With just one click, you can generate a podcast-style discussion between two people that brings the whole notebook to life. Google NotebookLM 📒 It has an impressive ability to create a deep dive podcast 'on the go’ based on the context you feed in! Its in human voice where a female & male talk about the data you provided, in the manner you enjoy listening. This way you can convert any ‘dry’ information in to a story style audio discussion. There are other intuitive features like generating FAQ, Study Guide, Table of Contents, Briefing document and even Timeline of key events embedded in the context provided by you. In addition you can chat to ask questions and get specific answers using natural language. This model is built on the Google Gemini 1.5 Pro language model, which allows it to process and understand complex information effectively. NotebookLM can manage up to 50 sources simultaneously, with each source capable of containing up to 500,000 words. This extensive capacity allows users to aggregate large amounts of information from multiple documents and formats without losing context or detail. You can provide PDFs, Google Docs, Slides or even URLs as context. As a ‘Knowledge Worker’, I find this very useful for students, researchers, professionals, content creators in fact anyone who wants to enhance productivity by using a grounded LLM I.e. with given data & context without hallucinations! 🚀 NotebookLM by Google is a Game Changer! One of its coolest features is it's ability to transform your content into a podcast featuring a realistic and engaging conversation between two people. 🎙️ You can always ask ChatGPT to explain something, but this a whole new way of learning and it's designed to hallucinate less because it focuses mostly on the ground truth which is the content we provide. It supports a wide range of content types—docs, slides, websites, YouTube videos, or even simple copy-paste text. I tested it with a Python implementation of a Variational Graph AutoEncoder from my thesis. The results were amazing! I highly recommend you give it a try. Google has introduced an exciting new feature in Notebook LM known as interactive mode. With Notebook LM, you can upload various sources of data like research papers, newspaper articles, or data tables from Google Sheets. Once uploaded, the platform can generate a podcast where two presenters engage in a dynamic conversation about your data sources. Picture two individuals dissecting your academic assignment or analysing market research while you listen in. Now, with the addition of interactive mode, you have the ability to actively participate in the podcast by asking questions or sharing your insights. Imagine being a marketing strategist listening to the podcast after uploading research and customer interview notes. Okay, I was out for a run yesterday listening to a podcast about how NotebookLM was created with some behind-the-scenes and it sparked an idea. However, I need your feedback! When I work with school districts we do an activity called, "What's Been Happening?" This is a chance to share the learning of the collective group. Since the sessions happen about a month apart there is always a lot of news, updates, or learning to share. I also learn each week and since I am spending a lot of time with school districts I don't always have enough time to share out with my wider community. Soooooooo, I was thinking that I might be able to use NotebookLM to share. Here is the inaugural Adam's update with NotebookLM. My plan would be to post the notebook with the resources that I shared to build it. In this first one, I realized two things. There is a paradox within the resources I shared, but that supports the theme of risks and possibilities. I also noticed that after about the 9:30 mark (they went on a break) it seemed to repeat some of the first half. I've recently had the chance to test out NotebookLM, Google's innovative note-taking tool. Here are some of the incredible features it offers: - Quickly creates summaries, FAQs, and even podcasts from any uploaded text. - Engage in a chat that answers questions about the uploaded document. - Creates study guides, which are perfect for educational purposes. Imagine uploading school textbooks and having a personal tutor on demand. I uploaded a couple of my story synopses (I enjoy writing and am a published author of two novels) and was amazed at how accurately NotebookLM generated briefings, summaries, FAQs, timelines, and even 7-10 minute podcasts! I've shared a link to one of my stories if you’re curious. This tool is particularly useful for educational purposes. Uploading textbooks and utilizing the chat feature for questions is like having a 24/7 personal tutor.
