Like those cold and icy blasts of snowy rain, Slush comes and goes for another year. A huge thanks to our partners in events OTB Ventures, APEX Ventures , HTGF | High-Tech Gründerfonds and NATO Innovation Fund (NIF) for partnering with us on an incredibly engaging DeepTech Frontiers side event and a very cozy DETECT VC Drinks. It was great to see so many familiar and new faces. We’d also like to say a massive thanks to the wider community for all the side events we were invited to and attended. Lots of good discussions at the Zero One Hundred Conferences (PE & VC Platform) in Amsterdam these days. Some topics in focus: - a common frustration across the continent is the lack of risk apetite in the form of 2.5x smaller rounds than in US and the ones doing them accepting only commercial and no technological risk for example in the case of DeepTech series B and above rounds - a regional initiative supported by the organizers and The Recursive team to shine more light and make more attractive the CEE ecosystem to western LPs - Q1 2024 is unfolding a significantly positive trend and is boosting confidence on a comeback of the industry #startupventures #rocax

We're a few days into 2025. The holiday stupor is wearing off and with the to-dos for 2025 starting in full swing, as clichéd as it sounds, I can't help but reminisce about the year that was. And what a transformative year it's been! Leading Opus CMC through 2024 has tested and inspired me in ways I never expected, but I couldn't be prouder of where we've landed. Our team pulled off something incredible this year—they took on a complex portfolio securitization project that not only succeeded but opened doors to international partnerships. This, of course, is the cherry on the cake. The real achievement has been witnessing how our team rose to every challenge.   My greatest learning in 2024 has come from balancing leadership with mentorship. During our technology integration initiative, I had the privilege of working closely with our team through critical decision points. Seeing their confidence grow and watching them take ownership of bold decisions has been joyful. I feel like a proud parent, almost! And just like a parent, I've grown alongside them.   I took a leap of faith this year, steering Opus CMC into new asset classes. While analyzing market trends and crunching numbers came naturally, we modernized our entire approach, bringing in new tech that transformed how we work, all while staying true to our core mission.   I expanded my own horizons too. Deepening my understanding of AI and blockchain in finance not only advanced our innovation strategy but reminded me that leadership requires continuous learning.   As we step into 2025, I'm energized by the possibilities ahead. Last year taught us that when we combine expertise with courage, remarkable things happen. Here's to another year of breaking barriers, fostering innovation, and growing together. 😀 🚀 Good news! CrowdScan secures new funding of just under 1 million euros. In addition to extra personal contributions from the co-founders, we receive an injection of 500,000 euros. The fresh capital comes from imec.istart and new external shareholders, such as Yves De Laere, and the investment fund Euphoria represented by Alex Moreels. They strengthen the existing team of investors, which includes Qbic Fund | Venture Capital and Wim Bijnens Over the past year, we have invested heavily in making our technology more plug-and-play. Our various international projects and the rising demand from the Netherlands and Flanders clearly demonstrate a growing global need for reliable, privacy-friendly crowd data. We have proven to be relevant not only at events but also within smart cities and public transportation. I moderated a fun panel at the AdTech Economic Forum with Eric Franchi, Sanja Partalo, and Darcy Frisch on the state of venture capital, angel investing, and innovation in the adtech space.
