Blog - CEOs expect efficiency, cost savings from generative AI by 2025 We forecast 37.0 million people will use AI at work in the US this year, growing 51.5% YoY. 48% of senior marketing executives worldwide say that advanced AI skills training for key staff is their top priority in preparing for generative AI in 2024, according to a February 2024 survey by Adobe and Econsultancy. Other priorities to prepare for generative AI include providing a basic AI understanding for all employees, creating policies for ethical AI use and data security, and development and implementation of AI governance frameworks, per the survey. https://lnkd.in/gziAsY3f Let me expand on the above 1.Data is key for many organizations as part of driving the best results. More insights to data will drive the expansion of data and AI with CFO and the Office of Finance teams 2.Chatbots have been around for years as part of streamlining tasks like customer support or government filings or other areas of workflow management 3.Regulatory burden of companies is forcing more automation through the leveraging of data and AI 4.Tying generative AI to a business process change includes a detailed plan to address the business process change. 5.Leveraging blueprints for generative AI model building, supply chain, customer support, building permits, etc. 6.CFO continues to tread lightly in generative AI due to concerns around system of record and other data being leaked through bad actors and cyber threats. 7.Data and AI vendors pushing products and not the solution. 8.Training and skills upgrade for data management, data and AI, and cybersecurity for business partners, consultants, and employees. 9.Cybersecurity threats continue to plague both public and private sector organizations. 10.Continue evolution of regulations and policies for ethical, security, and privacy for data and AI Blog – Privacy Ethics and Security rules for Generative AI - https://lnkd.in/gCiJ8ntZ CPA Ontario Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand AICPA MNP BDO Grant Thornton LLP (Canada) #CFO #GenerativeAI #DataandAI #badactors

Some interesting and compelling research regarrding AI hype and adoption published by the Australian Institute of Company Directors _"Over three in four respondents say AI tools have decreased their productivity and added to their workload in at least one way.”_ https://lnkd.in/g_xngjtv This is pretty important as it signals how critical it is to understand AI deployment as part of a wider system that has roll on effects elsewhere and how often we don't really learn more about who else is doing the digital labour (still largely manual). Personally, I will do more to try and communicate this better to our customers as part of my advisory practise, and better understand where the burden of work shifts to, while the necessary foundations of data governance, skilling and quality are still being built. I'm really happy to see this topic reaching boards, who have the ability to direct sustainable D&A development. I'm now hoping to see more on how incentives will be redefined...

This 2023 article led me again in 2024 to conclude that "working backwards" remains a top requirement and, for many, a blind spot in their AI initiatives. It is where AWS Partners in the Generative AI Competency are here to help: Companies succeeding with AI start by defining clear business use cases rather than focusing on where data is readily available. They combine domain expertise with AI capabilities to tap into value pools and measure tangible outcomes. The most successful firms establish fundamental enablers (data platforms, governance, and dedicated talent) before scaling AI across the organization. Grebe, M., Franke, M.R. & Heinzl, A. Can AI make an organization more effective and functional? An organization’s structure and its governing rules—commonly referred to as its bureaucracy—often impact its internal efficiency and effectiveness. Many organizational issues stem from conflicting or inefficient rules and structures. Currently, evaluating whether this bureaucracy is functional and effective relies on subjective assessments made by individuals within the organizational hierarchy. There is no clear, systematic approach to measure the health of an organization’s bureaucracy. GPT models and similar AI systems have the capacity to analyze and summarize large volumes of data. By combining this capability with data from various organizational tools and services, AI could potentially assess an organization’s overall effectiveness. In the near future, I envision organizations computing a "Bureaucracy Index" (B-Index) based on diverse data sources. This index could help organizations continuously refine their hierarchy and rules, creating a more adaptable, efficient structure. The B-Index will enable organizations to make more informed and confident adjustments to their structure and rules. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.

With People Front And Centre, AI Has The Potential To Radically Improve Strategic Planning Any discussion about artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on business would be incomplete without taking a moment to reflect on the technology’s impact on people. However, far from a doomsday outlook where humans have no future in the workplace, AI leveraged correctly has the potential to massively support strategic planning which would have a direct impact on sustainable growth, as well as the job-protecting and job-creating potential it brings.
