Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year for a few reasons. 1- If you know me, you know chocolate is the main staple of my diet. 🍫 2- The day/evening is a time when communities and neighbors come out and celebrate with each other. There are not many holidays when this happens. 👋 3- Costumes bring out the most creative aspects of all of us and the little ones costumes are so cute and it's fun bringing smiles to their faces. 👻 Although I do have to say that I'm not the biggest fan of dressing up at the office because of that really awkward moment where you are not sure if you will be the only person is a costume, or 1 of 100 witches - it's always a risk. 🧙♂️ If you haven't gotten your candy yet head over to your local RITE AID or have it shipped to your home through our 3rd party partners at Amazon, DoorDash or Instacart. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝘆'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 Macy's is a brand that is synonymous with American Christmas traditions. Every year, millions of people tune in to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which features the iconic arrival of Santa Claus. But did you know that Macy's played a key role in shaping the modern image of Santa Claus as we know it today? Back in the 19th century, Santa Claus was depicted in various ways, from a stern-looking bishop to a jolly elf. In 1862, Macy's hired Thomas Nast, a famous cartoonist, to draw Santa Claus for its holiday advertisements. Nast drew Santa as a plump, bearded man in a red suit, inspired by the poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" by Clement Clarke Moore. Nast's illustrations became widely popular and influenced other artists and advertisers. This is how Santa took the form of jolly old man that we recognise today. In 1924, Macy's launched its first Thanksgiving Day Parade, featuring floats, balloons, and live animals. The parade ended with Santa Claus arriving on a sleigh, greeted by thousands of cheering children. This tradition established Santa as the symbol of the holiday season and the star of the parade. Even now, Macy's continues to surprise and reimagine Santa with a twist. Here is their newest commercial about a little boy who is on a mission to find the perfect gift for Santa. The countdown to Christmas is on! Over the next few weeks, I will share some tips for a Better Organised festive season. This week is mostly about planning. Some food delivery slots are already booked up, so I recommend setting aside some time to go through your diary! 📆 Diary Organisation - Diarise/book tickets for outings i.e. markets, pantos, parties, visits to Santa, ice rinks, carnivals, school fairs, nativities - Book any services to be done at home i.e. tradesmen, carpet cleaners, deep cleaning 🏡 At Home - Draw up a gift list and budget. Remember to include gifts for teachers/colleagues/Secret Santa, as well as any prizes for raffles or tombolas.
