Luke Shepherd’s Post

Already in 2025, 31 tech companies across the globe have laid off over 7,000 employees. If your role has been impacted - I'm so sorry. If you can help someone impacted with a referral, a recommendation, a call... lead with empathy and it's 1000% worth your time to help. My role at HubSpot was impacted when they did a round of layoffs in 2023. There were folks in that time that I'll be eternally thankful for.. some of which did such a "small" gesture they wouldn't even think it had a profound impact. Lead. with. empathy.

I think it's time for people making these decisions to be held accountable. I hate seeing layoffs because of bad decisions made by leadership teams.

Well said Luke. Even the small gestures - check ins, recommendations, introductions, will mean the world. I recall when going through my own layoff experience in 2023 the people that reached out at the time who were eternally grateful for something small I had forgotten about in the past and felt it was their chance to repay that favour.

Rightly said... Layoffs are happening in pockets and without noise in 2025. And I am a patient of this cycle.

Getting laid off sucks. But it can open incredible doors and opportunities you never knew were possible.
