Glitter Parade is leading us to Net NoWHERE Fast! RESTRICT USE OF GAS FIRED HEATING EQUIPMENT??? AND PHASING OUT THE SALE OF FOSSIL-GAS FIRED HEATING?? AND HOT WATER EQUIPMENT??. better learn to service yours CANADA Make sure to visit TAF Canada to find out all the PATHs TO NETZERO. nothing in it for you. they have youtube videos discussing their numbskullery https://lnkd.in/eSUuF7HZ Use federal regulations to restrict the use of gas-fired heating equipment Priority Actions Restrict the use of fossil gas heating equipment in new construction Require all new central air conditioners to have heating capabilities (i.e. be heat pumps). See specifics from Efficiency Canada’s 2023 report “The Cool Way to Heat Homes”.. Establish a 2030 timeline for phasing out the sale of fossil-gas fired heating and hot water equipment Impacts A growing number of countries have passed regulations phasing out gas fired heating equipment, as has the province of BC. Policy certainty is needed to allow manufacturers, distributors and installers prepare for the transition to electric heat pumps and other non-fossil alternatives. Clear regulatory signals will also limit investment in stranded assets and ensure decarbonization happens in the most cost-effective way possible –at time of construction or HVAC replacement. Heat pumps also provide high efficiency cooling, which protects the health of Canadians during increasingly frequent extreme heat events. Glitter parade is leading us to Net Nowhere Fast.

Statement on the Province of Alberta’s Green Line proposal: City Council must prioritize what’s best for all Calgarians, and the revised Green Line plan warrants thoughtful evaluation and serious consideration. The cost of tunnelling was always a huge financial concern with this project, but the move to above ground tracks and adjusting the route will significantly decrease overall costs by approximately $1.8 billion, allowing more people to be served. The elevated tracks already in place on the Blue Line through the Sunalta area seem to have been a good solution on that line. While further clarity and analysis is needed on the long-term financial ramifications of the project, reliable transit access is essential for our growing city and its residents. This project has the potential to significantly improve connectivity, especially for those in SE Calgary.

Following yesterday's announcement by the Government about their Warm Homes Plan, Grant UK's Commercial Technical Manager, Neil Sawers comments: “Grant UK welcome the proposals from DESNZ on a number of levels. The revision to the Permitted Development Rights will allow physically larger heat pumps to be installed, helping to reduce the noise impact to surrounding dwellings. The accompanying proposals, including the additional funding to the BUS scheme, should help speed up the transition to heat pumps in the retrofit market by allowing more homeowners to consider heat pumps as a realistic alternative to fossil fuel boilers. We’re also pleased that the Secretary of State has provided some clarity regarding the CHMM and we look forward to working with her team, through the HPA, to improve this policy over the next few years.” #warmhomesplan #DESNZ #decarbonisation #heatpumps #permitteddevelopment #netzero

Heat from sewers, tube and Thames could soon warm London buildings. Westminster plan for UK’s biggest heat network could involve parliament warmed by waste and low-carbon heat. About 1,000 London buildings including the Houses of Parliament and the National Gallery could soon be warmed by low-carbon heat sourced from the River Thames, London Underground and sewer networks. Plans to develop the UK’s biggest heat network to supply decarbonised heat to buildings across Westminster were set out by the government as part of its pledge to back seven heat network zones with more than £5m of public funding. https://zurl.co/ZeUF

How did the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) do in its first year? The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has released statistics showing that up until the end of March 2024 the scheme has installed 9,480 measures into 7,720 British homes - primarily cavity wall and loft insulation, plus heating controls. This is around 20% of the year one target. Whilst the monthly run rate is creeping up, it is only at 43% of what would have been required to meet Year 1 targets, and a tiny 14% of where it needs to be to meet the planned Year 2 delivery. And expected consultation on changes to the scheme will surely now be delayed until after the election. Hopefully the next Government will implement some effective changes to ensure that GBIS works in tandem with other energy saving programmes to deliver significant numbers of home improvements. https://lnkd.in/eqiSFNqk

Good news day for the journey to cleaner, greener, cheaper homes for all: >>>Planning permission is no longer required to site a heat hump within 1m of a boundary, it will come under permitted development >>>£180M added to £1.95B boiler upgrade scheme to support a total of 284k heat pump installs >>>Clean Heat Market Mechanism takes effect from 1 Apr 25. Really pleased to see Gov have stood firm on this. Reduced fines of £500 for the first year only is a decent compromise. https://lnkd.in/eznqMAf8

"phases announced by Eby this year & last cover a further 21 km...$4.99 billion almost $240 million a km. Pressed about rising costs..'It costs what it costs' said Eby" Billions to widen roads in Lower Mainland, yet zero for LRT to West Shore Based on past estimates, LRT to the West Shore would cost about $595 million - less than 3 km of "road widening." In the meantime, BC govt boosting housing costs via Step Code & obstructing renewable natural gas to address GHGs/climate change https://lnkd.in/gnn7R-dY

In our fourth post on the various funding schemes in the energy efficiency sector, we look at the Great British Insulation Scheme, its eligibility criteria, and the available measures. The Great British Insulation Scheme is a government funding scheme aimed at improving the energy efficiency of homes in the UK, reducing energy bills and fuel poverty. The scheme requires energy suppliers to assist customers in lowering their heating costs by implementing energy efficiency improvements. Unlike other schemes, GBIS is open to a wider group of homeowners and tenants. Homeowners or tenants may be eligible if their property’s EPC rating is D to G, and the Council Tax band is A to D in England or A to E in Scotland and Wales, in addition to supporting low-income and vulnerable households. The available measures include: → Wall Insulation → Loft insulation Read the carousel to learn more, or click the link below to read the full article on our website. https://lnkd.in/e_M-5vAz #GBIS #Insulation #Retrofit
