Even though we had already made our break-up with the restaurant sector "social media official," we really felt like our ex had changed and we should give them another chance. And we're so glad we did :) Dispatch Goods was proud to provide the cleaning infrastructure for this pilot w/many top brands like Starbucks, Yum! Brands, and PepsiCo, all brought together by Closed Loop Partners. While few are paying attention, loads of progress is being made to create the infrastructure, technology, and partnerships that creates a truly circular and reusable economy.
[NEW REPORT] The results are in! Today, the #NextGen Consortium, led by Closed Loop Partners' Center for the Circular Economy, with partners including Starbucks, The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo, Yum! Brands and other global businesses released groundbreaking results from the Petaluma Reusable Cup Project, the first initiative to catalyze reuse across an entire U.S. city. The report reveals a major milestone for the reuse movement: enough of the project’s purple cups were successfully returned for the reuse system to produce environmental benefits when compared with a single-use alternative. Throughout the duration of the 3-month project, 30 businesses in Petaluma––from national brands to local restaurants––switched out single-use cups for reusable alternatives in unison, at no cost to the customer. Local consumers responded, returning cups from day one, with returns climbing rapidly in the first few weeks and over 220,000 cups returned throughout the program! What does it take to make reuse an everyday reality in America?
