I've got good news to share and even better news after that. The good news first... In the past month, my posts about the cost of a cup of coffee, remote work savings, and my "why" behind fundraising for the Chicago Marathon have resulted in $630 of donations to benefit those impacted by Childhood Trauma. I'm so appreciative for your support! Here's the even better news... Because of this surge in donations over this time period, the team at Advocate Health Care has graciously extended my fundraising deadline to Oct. 1, to allow me to try and hit my goal of $1750. I truly appreciate their generosity, too. Now I have two weeks to make a final push to hit my goal. I'm sitting at $1155 at the time of this post and need $595 to cross the fundraising finish line. Makes it worth it

The world in which we live is a terrible place, with suffering on every hand. However, there are wonderful organisations and individuals dedicated to caring for others, often unseen, but offering hope and a future to many. At Zappshelter, we believe in helping those less fortunate than ourselves. After many years of supporting multiple charities and performing random acts of kindness, we decided to establish the Zapp Foundation - a vehicle for donating a substantial chunk of our profits to philanthropic causes every year, and for highlighting the excellent work of others. IT'S A HEART THING Glen Meadows located in Hamilton, Ohio has a monthly BINGO store for their residents; the residents get BINGO bucks for participating and winning games. Torlana is a Restorative Aide at the facility and one of her residents doesn't like BINGO but like to shop at the store. Torlana takes him and then with her own money makes a donation to the store. We have so many good staff that go above and beyond for their residents because they become like family. Doing something extra for someone and not wanting anything in return is a beautiful thing. Foundations Core Value #2 is "Do what is right, even when no one is watching." Torlana is one of so many more of our caring staff across the State that give so much of themselves to their residents and fellow staff. They are our Culture of Care, and they are making a difference every day. You don’t do the right things for credit, you do it because it’s right. Torlana does what she does for her residents because it makes her residents feel happy and at home! By doing what’s right and not looking for recognition makes everyone’s jobs and lives easier and more fulfilled.
