As a part of Global Entrepreneurship Week (Western Carolina University College of Business), last week our entrepreneurship students (and I) had the absolute privilege of learning from Garrett Ozar 09’ (co-founder of Eterneva, Cause Logistics, & Ampcaddy). From a ‘packed house’ public lecture of 200+ attendees sharing macro lessons to many… to a small group dinner focusing on high-level detail-oriented nuances of launching startups… into and through deep and meaningful class lectures and even a “real time” critique on upper-level students’ business plans pitches in New Venture Creation… we covered a lot of ground! While Garrett came to help inspire and teach students about business, leadership, and entrepreneurship… I was struck by the focus on life lessons that were shared with these futurepreneurs. I was reminded that an entrepreneurial approach to life is one that embraces resilience, curiosity, and adaptability. Garrett’s insights highlighted that entrepreneurship isn’t just about building businesses - it’s about building character, embracing failure as growth, and staying committed to a vision even in the face of uncertainty… which is really how life works, isn’t it? His visit reinforced the importance of pursuing passions with purpose, leading with integrity, and constantly seeking ways to add value to the lives of others. For our students, this week was more than a lesson in business - it was a masterclass in navigating life with an entrepreneurial spirit. We are lucky to have him as one of our Business Ready graduates. #sigmanuttau #globalentrepreneurshipweek #businessready
