I am thrilled to announce that I have successfully completed a one-week intensive internship training on industrial-based embedded systems for drone technology, conducted by NSIC. This program was an incredible opportunity to deepen my understanding of embedded systems and their applications in the rapidly growing field of drone technology. This phase involves meticulous planning, from the structural layout to the integration of advanced technology that will define the drone's functionality.

Here are some key areas we can focus on to bridge the gap: Industry Partnerships and Placement Initiatives: Training organizations can establish formal partnerships with companies in sectors ranging from agriculture to logistics, infrastructure, and beyond. By fostering these connections, we can create internship and placement opportunities that allow new pilots to gain industry experience and build their careers. Focused Specialization: Basic certification provides an excellent foundation, but specialization can make pilots stand out in a competitive job market. Whether through advanced training in data analytics, aerial surveying, drone hardware maintenance, or AI applications, these added skills can make certified pilots indispensable to employers. Government Support for Industry Expansion: Regulatory bodies and government initiatives can play a role in expanding job opportunities by providing incentives for businesses to incorporate drone technology and hire certified pilots. Such policies would benefit both companies and job seekers, driving innovation and growth across sectors. Building Awareness and Community Support: We must foster open conversations about these challenges. Sharing resources, networking, and connecting with industry mentors can offer guidance, create new opportunities, and ensure that no one is navigating this path alone. In conclusion, while becoming a DGCA-certified drone pilot is a proud and worthy accomplishment, it is only the start of a journey that must be met with equal support and opportunity. Together, we can strive for an industry where the potential of every skilled pilot is realized. Not even 40 years ago in 1993, Carol Russo was the first woman to head a directorate at NASA Glenn Research Center. As Director  of Aeronautics, she led the research and technology for aeronautical propulsion systems. “When I went to school I was the only woman in my class, so it was definitely a field that was not for women in those days. It's better today, but I still think there's a lot we can do to encourage young women to go into engineering and science.”   At Platform Aerospace, 40% of our Directors and Managers are women. Our team excels by integrating a wide variety of perspectives and life experiences into our emerging UAV technology solutions. Last Saturday, I became a pilot for a day. 👨✈️ Well, for 45 minutes if we’re counting — but let’s not. I’ve always had a strong interest in the aviation industry. In fact, that’s what led me to apply for an internship role at AirAsia when I was 21. Being surrounded by pilots every day only deepened my curiosity about how they fly an aeroplane. What’s it like up there? Is it anything like driving a car? (Obviously not.) Why are there so many buttons in the cockpit? Last Saturday, I finally got to answer those questions and more. I attended Simflightkl, a non-motion simulator that allows participants to try their hand at piloting an aircraft. I had the chance to fly an Airbus, and it was a real eye-opener. To my surprise, there wasn’t a traditional steering wheel (yoke) like I’d seen on TV. Instead, the Airbus had a side stick — something you usually see in a fighter jet. The side stick was a bit sensitive, so you’ve got to be highly trained to use it to fly an aircraft. Plus, the absence of a larger yoke means more space, and I certainly felt the advantage. For instance, I could bend forward to press some of the buttons more easily — though I’m not sure if that’s a significant benefit. During my session, I managed to do two take-offs and two landings, and it was a blast. Luckily for my non-existent passengers, I landed safely on both counts. Though I did make a few sharp turns while in the sky, I’m not sure how many would have stayed in their seats! 😆 And oh, I finally figured out how autopilot works too. It’s not as complex as I imagined, but it definitely makes the pilot’s job easier. Overall, it was an amazing experience that made me appreciate the skill and precision it takes to fly an aircraft.
