Over 200 participants attended our recent webinar “Going with the Flow – Unlocking the Assets of Continuous Fermentation” last week. After a brief introduction by Karl-Heinz Maurer, formerly Chairman of CLIB, four presentations from academia and industry highlighted the potential and challenges of continuous fermentation for industrial biotechnology and biomanufacturing. An interesting idea from Prof. Borotto's group. Using dual-tims (timsPro 2) as an additional collsion cell to get pesudo-MS3 result. Comparing with real "MS3", it is seperate "MS2" by ion mobility, so maybe there would be more intersting application~. By now in the paper, we can see that peudo-MS3 did increase protein sequence coverge~.

Recently, Stephen Sujansky and I have posted a preprint of a novel C-glycosylation strategy. By employing the ligand-coupling method of hypervalent sulfur species, we successfully translated the anomeric stereochemical information of S-glycosides to the corresponding C-glycoside products. As a result, leveraging well-established stereoselective S-glycosylation process, both α- and β-anomers of the corresponding C-glycosides could be obtained in a stereospecific manner. More importantly, we have demonstrated that this chemistry is suitable for installing a wide range of heterocyclic aromatic substituents at the anomeric position. Check it out!
