Are we handicapping our organization’s and employee’s futures? The Microsoft LinkedIn Work Trend Index reveals concerning statistics - "68% of people struggle with the pace and volume of work, and 46% feel burned out." My team's research suggests that agility, flexibility, and AI adoption might be at risk due to worker change paralysis, leading to change fatigue and chronic cognitive dissonance. Employee capabilities to absorb change have lessened amidst major work disruptions like Flexwork and AI. To address this, we must change the way we change! Are you witnessing change impairment and cognitive overload in your organization? Share your strategies for enabling better change adoption. #worktrendindex #futureofwork #agility #flexibility #ai #changeparalysis #changingchange Read more: https://lnkd.in/eiyFQhm8

According to Microsoft and LinkedIn’s Work Trend Index*, AI ‘power users’—those who use AI at least several times a week—say their workloads are more manageable, and that using AI at work boosts creativity and helps them focus on the most important work, feel more motivated, and enjoy work more. The report highlights that these AI power users predominantly work in companies with a change-ready culture, and with leaders who are prepared to invest in skilling their teams. 😉 If you understand the importance of AI training and are ready to invest, what’s stopping you? *Link to the report in comments. #humanskills #softskills #skills #creativity #training #learninganddevelopment #employeesatisfaction #changeready

Microsoft has published its 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report in partnership with our sister company LinkedIn. If you have yet to read through "AI at Work" the findings might surprise you. Here are a few: AI is here; whether organizational leadership embraces it or not. The use of Generative AI tools like Copilot and ChatGPT, etc. has nearly doubled in the last six months with 75% of knowledge workers using it. Great news for those realizing value today, but the report is also balanced, learning that some organizations also recognize the challenges with adoption as their employees want AI, and leaders are looking for a path forward to provide it but with proper security guardrails and compliance protocols. As I have been known to say, without security, there is no AI. While leaders agree AI is a business imperative, many believe their organization lacks a plan and vision to go from individual impact to applying AI to drive the bottom line. The hurdles with implementation and immediate ROI pressure are evident and increasingly, reliance on a partner/systems integrator will be a make-it-or-break-it to a secure and effective rollout. The positive changes are undeniable and far outweigh the challenges of adopting this paradigm-shifting technology. For businesses that embrace AI as a strategy and for many employees, AI will raise the bar, and break the career ceiling, creating career paths previously unimagined and democratizing technology by making it more accessible to all employees. I encourage leaders who recognize its importance but struggle to move beyond experimentation to develop a responsible AI strategy aligned to business goals. Invest in employee training (yourself included!) and upskilling to bridge the talent gap. Encourage experimentation and learning best practices from each member of the team, building centres of excellence. Foster a culture that embraces AI as a tool for growth and innovation Remember, AI adoption will be a journey, and organizations need to navigate it strategically to reap the benefits. Of course, Microsoft and its partner ecosystem of subject matter experts are here to help! According to the 2024 annual work trend index, the integration of AI in the workplace has accelerated dramatically, with 75% of global knowledge workers now utilizing AI tools. This rapid adoption is largely driven by employees themselves, who are bringing their own AI tools to work. However, many leaders feel unprepared to fully leverage AI, lacking a clear vision and strategy. Some of my takeaways: - Rapid Adoption: 75% of global knowledge workers now use AI at work, with usage nearly doubling in the past six months. - Employee-Driven AI: 78% of AI users are bringing their own AI tools to work, highlighting a significant trend in BYOAI (Bring Your Own AI). - Leadership Challenge: 60% of leaders worry that their organization lacks a plan and vision for AI implementation, despite recognizing its necessity. Organizations must develop a clear AI strategy and provide the necessary support for employees to harness AI effectively. How is your company planning to integrate AI into daily operations? 𝗔𝗜: 𝗔 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝗼𝗹, 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗡𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 I recently read Microsoft’s article on AI at work, which sparked many thoughts about how technology is changing the way we work. AI can significantly speed up processes and provide us with powerful tools to work more efficiently. While AI can handle repetitive tasks and data analysis, it's important to remember that it's just a tool. AI can't replace our creativity, our ability to think critically, or the human connection that's so essential to our work. For me, AI is like a helpful assistant. It takes care of the routine, freeing me up to focus on the things that truly matter, like developing strategies and building relationships. By letting AI handle the heavy lifting, we can concentrate on the tasks that require our unique human skills. As we embrace AI to become more productive, let's not forget to continue developing our unique abilities. Our ability to think, feel, and innovate sets us apart and makes a real difference in the world. https://lnkd.in/ghWqMuRf

8moPerhaps its not the way we change, but rather the way that work itself is designed? Despite all the technologies we have, the ways in which modern knowledge work itself is designed have just not kept pace. If we think of the technology developments of the past century, they are often complemented by new ways of managing, such as Scientific Management, Toyota Production System, Agile. But what is the equivalemt for modern knowedge work today...? If there is any doubt as to the inefficiency of knowledge work, consider this article from Bain, or content by the likes of Cal Newport and others. imho for AI, and other technologies to become sticky and drive productivity - we need to focus on the design of work itself. After all, humans have finite attention, therefore work must be optimised around those constraints. https://www.bain.com/insights/solving-for-the-dark-side-of-metcalfes-law/
