For over 50 years, a lack of federal investment in critical infrastructure has remained the status quo. Communities across the country have been left to pay for crumbling roads and bridges, water and sewer system failures, and much more. The American Rescue Plan Act’s (ARPA) State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) program has been a uniquely flexible source for local governments to invest in infrastructure. Through these investments, large local governments are strengthening their built environment, creating economic opportunity, and redressing past environmental injustices.
