FERC 1920 will improve transmission planning across regions, taking into account state #EnergyPolicy goals and cost allocation concerns. Ultimately, these efforts will enhance sustainability, reliability/resilience, and affordability by: 1️⃣ Supporting higher penetrations of renewable resources 2️⃣ Strengthening #GridResilience by sharing resources during extreme events 3️⃣ Improving affordability by balancing supply and demand across larger areas https://lnkd.in/gq2F2yzK

With the FERC finally passing the transmission reform, Americans for a Clean Energy Grid (ACEG) and and Grid Strategies take a hard look at the health of the nation's transmission structure.....and it's not great. We still have a long way to go, and much to navigate before the grid can support the level needed to move forward in the energy transition, starting with being able to connect new renewable power generation to the grid. The big challenge is the make-up of how the grid is controlled, and how each of the grid operators go about meeting FERC’s new rules, depending on their individual makeup (states), governance structures, and preexisting regional planning expertise. Just how these different grid regions will gain consensus among the utilities, state regulators, and other decision-makers will depend on a lot of different factors, however — including the clean energy policies of these stakeholders. There is a long way to go. Read the full article here: https://bit.ly/4ay6Xzw #energytransition #cleanenergy #keepmovingforward
