This is pretty big news in the evolving tokenisation of financial markets. Demonstrating the business value of collateral mobility through tokenisation and DLT is one of the early use cases pioneered by Kinexys Tokenised Collateral Network, HQLAX etc. Combined with the tokenisation of Money Market funds by Blackrock, Franklin Templeton, Fidelity etc and their use as collateral , this announcement by CFTC of their recommendation on using non-cash collateral is a big deal. #tokenization https://lnkd.in/eH8zZM7J

Rising strategic importance of "DLT and digital assets" adoption International Securities Services Association (ISSA ) published its latest DLT in the Real World survey. It shows that institutions rate DLT as increasingly important from a strategic perspective, particularly exchanges, CSDs, wealth management firms and custodians. Morgan and Broadridge announced that JPM Coin, the Onyx-division solution for cash on Distributed Ledger Technology, would be available as a settlement mechanism for Broadridge’s Distributed Ledger Repo (DLR) platform. Having a viable cash equivalent for settling digital transactions is an important step forward for adoption of digital collateral markets generally, although there still may be issues that need sorting out. Something Interesting - the rise of tokenization is something that has recently broken into more mainstream news. The tokenized U.S. Treasury debt market is experiencing rapid growth, surpassing $1 billion in market value for the first time. These tokenized Treasuries are digital versions of U.S. government bonds that are traded as tokens on public blockchains like Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Stellar, among others. The market value has surged almost tenfold since January of the previous year and has seen an 18% increase since the announcement of BlackRock's Ethereum-based tokenized fund BUIDL on March 20th. This trend indicates a growing interest in blockchain-based financial instruments and their potential in traditional finance.

Tokenized assets and RWAs continue to be one of the hottest trends of 2024. Tokenised treasuries’ market capitalisation exceeded $2 billion to reach $2.07 billion as of 30 August, according to RWA.xyz. The market hit the $1 billion milestone in March 2024. Tokenised treasuries are digital forms of US government bonds that can be traded as tokens on blockchains. Launched in March 2024, BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) was a big contributor to the rise in market capitalisation.
