Non controversial: The 'design world' as a whole prioritizes process, not speed to deliverable. I believe that AI tools have opened a fissure into this world-view. Now non-designers are jumping straight to prototypes, using Tailwindcss as a design system and relying on the default styling. layouts, usability, accessibility and mental models of whichever program is doing the building. For too long, there’s been an orthodoxy about the design process, a lot of gatekeeping, how it’s ‘supposed’ to work. I see design leaders doubling down on the 'strategic designer' – and it's hard to tell because we're right in the middle of this transformation - but that does not seem to be what companies are hiring for - am I wrong on this?

100% Jon Simmons. The design world spent years refining a process, and now AI is bulldozing straight to results. Maybe the real debate is: are companies hiring for design or just output?

Unfortunately, most clients or companies don’t care about process. They just want it fast, cheap, and spectacular.
